He’s zeroed in. I think 1 look was all he needed. These fields are so well manicured that bad hops rarely happen.

Based on rizzos world series proformance. I believe he did it, because he simply doesn't care anymore

Smart play with runners on first and second with one out. A double play would have ended the inning
@Jeff_Lichtman10 сағат бұрын
If the umpires believed it was a deliberate attempt to prevent a double play, they could have called both him and the batter out. Rule 6.01(a)(7)
@scottsinner75303 сағат бұрын
Yeah, but there’s no actual evidence it was deliberate. That’s what made it so good. He didn’t break stride, he didn’t step toward the ball. Just bad luck. 🤷♂️🙂

Granted it’s in slow mo, but even in real time it took three business days. Definitely was on purpose.

stopped an inning ending double play. be interesting to know if it worked.

This is actually the same game that Soto was called out for interference on a infield fly the inning before. Win some, you lose some

That was a routine double play. Smart play by Rizzo
@megadethslayer361912 сағат бұрын
why would you want to be out at third to get one on first?
@christopherrumland965612 сағат бұрын
He was disrupting the double play, which would've ended the half inning. Runners at 1st & 2nd with 1 out, ground ball in the infield means the goal for the defense is a double play UNLESS something happens that kills the play, like a runner touching a batted ball which makes it a dead ball and the runner is out. Yes, that means there are now 2 outs, but Rizzo prevented the half inning from ending by double play.

I don't know baseball positions or terms very well but... I think if the guy got the ball he could of thrown to 2nd and 1st for 2 outs. This way the ball is interrupted and only 1 out happens. So you're actually trading a guy on 3rd for a guy on 1st and 2nd. That's assuming they would of got the 2 outs.

Wow! As a kid you are told to run it out hard! This is beyond smart! Gives his boys a chance, keeps the inning alive, next up Judge, Stanton, or whomever for a 3-run NUKE!!!

Obviously unintentional. He's not looking at the ball, folks.

Slo-Mo shows otherwise Dude. He was eyeballing the path of the ball the whole time. He knew what he was doing. 🤦🏻♂️
@CognizantCheddar3 сағат бұрын
@Dakkon0379 Slow motion does NOT show otherwise, Dude. He is plainly, clearly not looking at the ball, and he doesn't stagger his pace or anything to intercept it. So it could just have easily have passed right through his legs. Pure luck that it hit him. 🤦🏻♂️

Still leaves a runner on first instead of first and third with one less out. Runner on third has that chance it score on a fly or out.
@scottsinner75303 сағат бұрын
There were runners on first AND second, with one out. Now there’s still men on first and second, with two outs, instead of a very good chance at an inning-ending double play.
