I had not heard of Electric Call Boy before but have been a huge fan of Baby Metal since they started. I have to say that I have now watched this video more times than I can remember and love it more each time I watch it. This is a perfect mix of the two groups. With Baby Metal learning English I appreciate them even more.

The hype around ESKIMO Callboy (their old band name) came with the introduction of the new lead singer Nico with "Hypa Hypa" in 2020. Due to Covid and the boredom they mashed a "Hypa Hypa EP" with most of the music styles there are, for example 257ers Hip Hop Saltatio Mortis Middle Ages Folk Metal Sacha Pop WBTBWB Death Metal The Boss Hoss Western / Country Axel1 Indie Metal/Pop and a "not worth mentioning DJ-Techno remix"

Nice one Joel - and great guest. I'm not so sure about BABYMETAL always seeming serious - they will usually be acting out their parts in MVs for songs like 'Karate' and 'BxMxC', others are filmed at live shows like 'PA PA YA' and 'Shanti Shanti Shanti' and they're always smiling and having fun when they play live. In other MVs they were literally playing games while recording them ... eg 'Megitsune' Yui and Moa were playing tag, 'Iine' they got dressed up in hoodies and sunglasses for a hip hop section, 'Headbanger' Su was jumping round on a bed - she even fell off and got stuck between the bed and the wall. Most recently in 'Metali' they were kicking over tea tables having a summer festival and ended up sitting smiling and waving from on top of Tom Morello's guitar.

I'm happy that EC doesn't participated the ESC. They're bigger than ever and the last things I heard about the ESC/ the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) is no fun. Nico said already in August 2022 that he's happy with the outcome. If you wanna know more watch : Eurovision 2024 was a total disaster

Twisted Sister was a metal band with great humor. Helloween and Faith No More at the beginning too. It's a good thing Babymetal and Electric Callboy are like that. Rock doesn't have to be depressing. And this seems to have become the wrong rule in metal. We live in a very difficult historical moment. Valuing joy and humor is very important. 🦊🦊🦊

I love his take and he's absolutely right a lot of 80s and 90s industrial outfits were doing some similar elements, course they were more political and social with their message a lot of the time (industrial has been my go to genre since the mid 80s), but it did come back more dancy/stompy in the 2000s with EBM (synthpop, future pop, aggrotek and what not) good stuff

There have been great collabs before but for me, this might be one of the best collaborations i've ever heard, the song slaps, the fun factor is through the roof, and like Tod Howard famously said "It Just Works!" (with the difference that this actually works! unlike any day-one release by Bethesda gaming studios hehehe) I was checking international charts earlier this week and to my pleasant surprise... they hit #1 on an American rock chart, making this the first #1 hit for both bands (if i recall correctly). For me, this is the summer hit of the year, heck.. i'd even go as far as calling this the song of the year .. period. Thnx for this fun react Joel, and your guest is a really fun guy :D

In a recent interview, one of EC singers said that BM were the first one getting in touch with them and asked them for a collab, they knews about each other since a very long time. The girls said almost the same thing in another interview at Rock Am Ring saying they got this song on mind but they felt it wasn't complete without the help of EC, so anyone saying this is mainly EC sound, yeah sure, that was the intention of BM team, they're known creating songs tribute to many bands and rock/metal legends, they did it before with Road Of Resistance and even asking their guitarists to make the guitar arrangements on the album version, and i could be long with more songs such Tales Of The Destinies with Dream Theater, Catch Me If You Can with Slipknot, Onedari Daisakusen with Limp Bizkit, not to mention X-Japan of course and many more, heck they got Metal Galaxy with a bunch of collabs, i bet they would have wish to released all those songs as a collab but they weren't so famous lol But nonetheless that doesn't mean RATATATA is mainly EC creation, they got their input of course and even reaching to more than 20 version till both groups of composers agree with the final version. Anyway sorry about the rant Joel, and thanks for keep sharing and spreading BM songs.🦊🤘🔥

Just hit #1 recently on Billboard Rock charts. This makes both EC and Babymetal first #1 hit. The thing that strikes me about Babymetal is their willingness to take risks. Things that shouldn't work on paper here. Have really turned into some f*** bangers. However, this to me just feels like everything what Babymetal & EC are all about. One of the best collaborations I've seen in years. Then Momoko's growks added in just made it epic as f****!!I have also heard Su- Metal wants an all female metal festival as well. Having mentioned Evanscience, Arch Enemy & Nightwish at the top of her list. Su is no fool here and just reiterates what your guest already knows. Su understands the importance of bringing in more female fans. Which Babymetal has most certainly done as just ask my 14 year old daughter lol. 😭💕 So f*** yea, sign me up!! 🤘🦊

the more i listen to this song the more i think it is way too soft for what i m used to expect from babymetal. a lot more pop and "maistream-mie". Not that it is a bad thing ofc, i just think babymetal music has a lot more depth usually.
