I'm in high school in AZ and I also do a separate program called West-mec. I chose Veterinary Science and I love the teachers who teach it. It definitely helps and at the end either of your 1 yr program or if you choose the 2 yr program we have to pass the NAVTA test and if we pass we can be a vet Assistant off the bat.

People think this but it’s a misconception. Yes human are more valued in our society than animals, but the stress level is the same, if not higher. A lot of people don’t respect Vets and will treat them horribly if they can’t save their pets. Vets also deal with animal cruelty, people who would rather euthanize their animals than save them. It’s extremely hard.

I'm 15 currently, and I've been wanting to be a vet since I was 5 😅 I've heard that a lot of vets commit suicide because of the stress and I'm really worried that I wouldn't be able to cope, any opinion on it?

I'm 18 and in my first year of college. Thinking about it too. I guess like everything else in life, it just comes down to whether it's worth it or not right? If your love for animals is sufficient to want to deal with the financial issues and compassion fatigue and the rest of it then you go for it.

Just completed my first year. And I agree, it's difficult. Probably one of the most difficult things I've had to do to be honest. As mentioned by the previous comment, it really does boil down to whether it's all worth it. It was hard, but it was also the thing that I enjoyed the most. All the best.
