“Funny” as a noun refers to a comedic newspaper comic strip. Thus, when they said “the fabulous funny” they were referring to the Garfield comic as a whole, rather than to the character of Garfield in particular.

Important update on this: the Toronto location has since closed its doors after its owner did not pay rent on the location (even after a kickstarter allegedly to raise the rent money). In the video announcing the closure, the owner almost immediately pivoted from said news into an announcement for his new line of Garfield-themed NFTs selling for $100 apiece. There’s a quote about living to become the villain that might be relevant here, but I’ll leave that to other people.
