His tail wagged almost the whole video... How could anyone give up on that sweetheart?😔
@michellekelly29378 жыл бұрын
I think people surrender their sick animals to a shelter is because they can't afford to take them to a vet. It would have cost a lot of money to fix Big Bear. There are people out there who barely make enough money to feed their kids and pay their bills. It's sad to say, but if you can't afford to look after your pet, you shouldn't have one. It's not fair to the animal.
@MrRoboskippy8 жыл бұрын
So if you can't put an extra $1500 in the bank to pay for a surgery that your pet most likely will never need, you shouldn't have a pet? If everyone followed this, there would be a lot less pet owners and many more euthanasia's.
@johnrein8 жыл бұрын
+Michelle Kelly that's what most people do and that's why u have 5o1c3s like mat and myself I rescue dogs in Florida from kill shelters and also the streets and save them from bad owners we are like the asacp we can go to houses of hoarders and document the place then go with cops to remove the dogs then sue for animal cruelty and animal abuse it's a hard thing to do we actually have a vet that we use that we owe thousands of dollars to him but he's ok with it since we help doges in need
@LadyWeasel8 жыл бұрын
+Michelle Kelly It's easy to judge from the outside. It's also easy to suddenly find yourself in a bad position. Maybe someone can afford things in the beginning, but lose their job and suddenly have no money for these things. Would you prefer the owners to allow him to fester for their own selfish need to keep a dog, or turn him in to a shelter where he would have a better chance to either be healed or have his suffering kindly ended?
@michellekelly29378 жыл бұрын
***** You're absolutely right. It could happen that someone loses their job or gets sick and things suddenly change. It's sad that there's no other choice but to surrender a dog for euthanasia when someone can no longer afford to care for a sick/elderly dog. I'm sure it's a very difficult decision to make for anyone.

...or, I hope they feel relieved that someone was able to help him when they couldn't and didn't know where else to go. People act like it's so easy. These bills are insane at a regular vet for people who don't have an extra 500 to 3k lying around. You just do the best you can & hope for a happy ending sometimes.
@jasminejo24248 жыл бұрын
if you don't have and extra 500 to 3K lying around you should not have got the dog in the first place. and if they have had hard times recently and lost money then they should have surrendered him to a no kill when that tumour was tiny instead of waiting and watching him suffer. no sympathy at all

the owners need to be charged with animal abuse!!!! this is abuse and neglect. I had a rescue cane corso and he was the biggest wimp you ever met, he was tossed away like trash but he made the best pet. blessings for all you do for these critter kids... please have these monsters charged.
@anonymoususer31128 жыл бұрын
If you give your dog to a shelter because you know it'll be euthanised. That's not animal abuse or neglect. It should be illegal and wrong, unless a vet has said nothing can help them. But it's not neglect or abuse.

why would they get charged? they didnt beat the dog because it was infected. Thats why they sent him to the kill house to get him euthanized...
@greatdanerescuemom18 жыл бұрын
the dog was turned in that way I believe. this is a long time of festering. in nj we have a law, you MUST supply medical needs of your animals. any good human would not let this happen to their pets. this dog was turned in this way, so this is abuse. sorry I do rescue and it breaks my heart how sick people are in not taking care of their pets. so they toss them to the curb like trash because they don't want to be responsible. he is a gorgeous dog and I hope he gets a great family. and as for the people who trned him in like this. KARMA is a bitc&
@greatdanerescuemom18 жыл бұрын
they turned him in with this festering tumor. this didn't happen in a day. they allowed this baby to go thru everyday with this growing. that IS abuse and neglect. and if you loved your pet, you take care of them, take the dog to the vet to be put down, not dumped in a shelter to let someone else be the one to do it. sickening.

I have never met a mean mastiff, EVER. Great dogs, but I wish they lived longer. I just lost my beloved Norwegian Elkhound to renal failure at 13-ish, can't imagine losing a dog because their breed only averages a 7-9 year lifespan.
@maxhammerum77058 жыл бұрын
S. Hubbell its because they are genetically fucked up usually their tails are ingrown and thue cant breathe for shit because their noses are fucked up too so they are pretty much all birth defectsband sadly paople still breed them :( but for a better explanation watch "Adam ruins dogs" or something like that

Unfortunately big dogs have bodies that tend to give out earlier. D:
@windwoman35498 жыл бұрын
+tampabaybuccaneer10 Yup. And people keep breeding them bigger and bigger - and smaller and smaller - and more and more screwed-up (i.e. English Bulldogs.) Why? For social status reasons and bragging rights. Never mind what all this selective breeding does to the DOG, right? Because it's ALL ABOUT US, dammit! My beloved Elkhound was a foundling. I have NEVER sought out a pet, much less a pure-bred animal. I don't care what they look like. I care about their 'personality', doggy intellect, and general health. Let's face it - "mutts" tend to be healthier because their gene pools are diverse, not weakened by inbreeding and too-close genetic trait selection. I have a new puppy now. He's 1/2 Golden Retriever, 1/4 Black Lab, and 1/4 Bullmastiff. For all intents and purposes, he looks like an oversized, blocky Retriever. 6 months old and 50 lbs.! Sweet, eager, not very bright. Sneaky and manipulative, but loving and good-natured. *lol* It's all good - he's part of the family!

It must suck for owners who can't afford to treat their dogs to surrender them to be euthanized. It must suck even more that the ones that end up in Vet Ranch turn out being fine and now those owners just don't have their pet anymore :\
@7thCobweb7 жыл бұрын
Sorry but... these owners are totally irresponsible and don't really love their pets, tbh.... in most of the videos we see animals that have been surrendered after they've been having these massive tumors/ wounds/ etc for a loooong ass time. If you can't afford surgery for your pet you should find a new owner for it IN TIME BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS. If you can't pay the vet bills, you have to give up your pet. Tumors like with this dog obviously don't grow overnight! The owner should have taken care of it when they first noticed something growing there.
@Mermare7 жыл бұрын
Heyit'smec If the owners had taken care of this when the tumor was small, it wouldn't have been a big deal at all.
@dhc-op2rw7 жыл бұрын
7thCobweb Thats true,if you cant mantain your dog dont try to kill him,just find a new owner!
@Maverick997 жыл бұрын
Perhaps it is irresponsible to own a pet without insurance. I inherited my dog from a neglected home. I gave her a better life but these vet bills are insane. I am at over 5grand and counting. She cant be insured because she is too old. Lot of people don't have that kind of money. One thing we all know for certain is that a dogs life is better with a human. Or at least it should be. It's not fair to call people irresponsible when a simple surgery for a tooth removal or a mammary tumor cost nearly 2k.
@heyitsnataliec7 жыл бұрын
7thCobweb Actually I agree with you now lol either way you'll lose your dog so you might as well give it a home that can take care of it

@r.mcbride28378 жыл бұрын
+Nathaniel A) Put him down for a lump on his neck? Seriously? If we find a lump on YOUR neck, should we just put YOU down or should we treat the lump? B) Pets or kids. If you can't afford them- DON'T HAVE THEM! Once you take on the responsibility, you have to follow through. You don't get to take the easy way out if it gets costly or inconvenient, and it ALWAYS WILL - with kids, pets, elderly parents, spouses, jobs. That's life. I have a real problem with people who think pets are disposable, like plastic cups. Animals are "people". They have feelings, thoughts, dreams, desires and feel love and pain just like the rest of us. They are not "just animals". They give unconditional love and loyalty and ask nothing in return. They deserve that love and LOYALTY back./rant off

I don't believe in God but I do believe in nature, Mother Nature specifically. I'm sure Mother Nature has a special place for you and I believe she will keep you close to her heart because the amazing work you do. Wish I could donate but I've been on medical leave for a whole now and under a pile of medical bills debt. I so agree with you doing the spaying and neutering while you have them in there. I volunteered SPCA Maryland for over 8 years and the worse thing ever is to relinquish a cat with it being able to reproduce continuously WHICH we didn't do there. People just can't be trusted to come back to get their cats neutered or spayed so they would just have to wait until we (the animals) got to that point!
