For that Tip of the Week: it never hurts to give options a try. Grooming bags can help with trimming nails at home, so long as you can wrangle the cat or small dog into it. The 'cozy' offered may help as well, both at home and at the vet office. As for feliway or similar products, it was a waste of money here. One cat even peed on the unit plugged in! He never got the memo on scruffing, so he was difficult to handle. Not as bad at the vet office, but was progressively becoming more immune to being there, aka more aggressive. Personally I prefer not to medicate, BUT for those who are hard to handle and aggressive or overly stressed at the vet office, gabapentin can work well. There's one cat here who wouldn't touch his food with that added in, so we used a different medication (he spent 10 of his first 11+ years in the shelter, with little socialization. He's more scared there but can lash out so he gets meds!) Try non-medicated methods first, especially if the cat/dog only has milder anxiety or aggression. Otherwise, medicating helps you AND them!

Fresno is such a gorgeous cat! I'm so glad he's going to finally feel better. Poor little Gomez, he's so cute and feisty just like Fresno. If they could visit, the war stories they'd tell each would be interesting I'm sure. Krusy Kris is looking so much better. I love his little floppy ears. He'd be a puppy I'd love to have.

One of my cats had to have that femoral head surgery on one leg. He is now 8 and you would never know. The hardest part was recovery when I had to keep him as inactive as possible. I borrowed one of those folding crate/cages from a friend to keep him confined. He is an indoor cat and he broke his leg while I was at work and I never figured out how it happened. I still feel like a bad cat mom when I think of it. Fresno is a beauty and with all the care and his feisty attitude, he should come through with flying colors. Maybe he will be less feisty too.
