For water used at the beginning of the process (within the distillation process) are you using pre-distilled water?

Wonderful demonstration!! How did you make the hose suck water from the bucket though?? I have a hard time setting up my own distillation apparatus due to this little mistake of mine.

Simple Fish pump in the bucket works good and using ice water helps the condenser stay cool

Apart from the clear hydrosol and essential oil, could you use the orange water under the orange peel in the original starting flask too?

Hi!! I bought a similar but smaller version of this, but it didn’t work because the alcohol lamp was too weak. Where is your heater/heating plate from?

I bought this heated stir plate from vevor as well. I also bought a magnetic stir bar as well.

I have a question what is the usage of the rubbery long tube for and why this red bucket to put the long rubber tube in ?

The bucket has ice water in it and the hose is connected to a water pump in the bucket. The hose comes out of the bucket and connects to the bottom of the condenser. Then the one on the top returns the water to the bucket. The cold water condenses the steam holding the essential oil and drips down into the separator. While I like this set up, glass is not a good option for myself or the space I'd be using this in. I'm going down the road of using a second hand pressure cooker, large one with a steam basket inside. I already have a plug in single hot plate to use and the valve on top of the pressure cooker is perfect for attaching pipe to collect the steam. Now just need to sort out my cooling condenser part of the set up.
