I’m a new Skool when it comes to chainsaw chain sharpening and use my Oregon grinder. I think I paid $428 for it in 2013. I usually can get the chains relatively sharp, a helluva lot sharper than using a single file. I rather swap chains especially out in the bush.

I've been using an Oregon grinder for a couple decades. No problem sharpening by hand afterwards for me either. Light grind if i need to go around twice i do. Great video

Have been using the Timberline Sharpening system for six years now, fast, easy and accurate. Having saws with 5/32 to 7/32 size teeth, this unit does them all with chain left on the bar.

5/16" to the right 😅😅. How do you like that 8 10 chain? I've had a couple guys grind for me. Couldn't file for beans on one but the other's worked just fine . I don't know about the hard thing but the w the difficult one, the shape changed more square, i would call it. Just couldn't file afterwards

The chips on the ground looked nice, no dust in the air, so I say it was ok

Might be good if you have many chains to prepare before work, especially if you cut a lot of old timber that have been on the ground.

you could see how far off the cutter head angles were on the second chain, seems to do a good job

Dana need a lock washer electric chainsaw sharper, FORD built tough ! 😊
@nseric12339 ай бұрын
You need to slow down and be more careful to get good results with any grinder. None of them work well if you dont line things up perfect. You must lock the chain down before grinding the cutter, if the cutter can wiggle like yours does while you're grinding it won be consistent. The first chain needed the depth gauges cut way down, when the teeth are almost gone the depth gauges should be almost gone too.
@smorefirewood9 ай бұрын
You are correct. I needed to remove a couple shim washers so the cain could be gripped. Plus the left/right pivot needs to me massaged a little as when I try to lock the chain it easily pivots.

Yes Dana you are the man of steel. You got a huge S on your chest. Great video. Dana try the Hexa chain out by STIHL. Your Oregon file you used in video, will not work so well. See if you can put a video out on its pros and cons. O boy have a great day.

your not using the lever on the front to lock the chain in place , in the video you can clearly see the chain cant forward and backward so you will get inconsistent grinding between all the teeth. All those levers and adjusters are there for a reason ! your also taking off a lot of tooth in one pass so your probably over heating and burning the teeth , softening them ?
