Wow! I bought one a couple of months ago, way before I saw this video. I checked mine and it runs straight and true. No issues at all. Had the HF and it was horrible. The knobs broke and it was just junk. I will be buying the cordless for when I am away from the shop.

One reason i am strictly a hand filer. It took me years to master hand filing but final after about 12 yrs of cussing my filing. Boom it all came together. I advise people learn how to hand file . it dosnt matter how many chains ya got. handle filing can be done out in the field and only takes a few minutes. Thanks for the review Oakie.

hand filing is sure excellent and as long as you keep the saw out of the dirt or metal, it can be a quick deal getting back to cutting well again. I just would like to have options for when I get a bit behind. Thank you again!

After seeing that run out, I'm glad I spent the money on the Oregon. I had actually looked into some of the Amazon options when I was upgrading from the Harbor Freight. Ultimately, my decision was based on past experiences with the Oregon grinders, I had used them at previous employer's and knew what to expect as far as it quality. Excellent video and info!

My Oregon has a little runout not in the motor but in the bushing on the end of the shaft. If I have bad wobble I can often clock the bushing/wheel and reduce it. Sometime it takes a few tries to get it running smooth. With yours either your arbor bushing was machined incorrectly or the shaft is bent.

You're right, I had the exact same problems. I think I can see the bolt on your motor spindle is way out of center. I actually bought the exact same one you have, I had to re-machine the collars. Also, I had to beef up the the chain vice and the bracket you pull the chain against. I bought mine from Ebay and was going to return it but Vevor offered me a 50% discount so it only cost me about £50, which made it viable to put right.

@@oakiewoodsman Just another note, once I sorted the problems with the grinder I purchased a £100 CBN wheel from Baltic Abrasives, but to my dissapointment the CBN wheel had a wobble in a portion of the wheel. I'd had it a while before I fitted it so could not return it, by careful bending and soft hammering in the high spots I managed to true it up within an acceptable 3 thou. So to everyone who's going to buy an expensive CBN wheel, check them for wobble as soon as it's delivered.

I have a Timber Tuff its a good sharpner but it has a few of the same quirks the cam take alot of pressure to hold the chain till you get it properly adjusted and the feel for it. One thing i really dont care like is all the cheep plastics or pot metal where there is threds but were only pay $100 what do we expect.. The wheels that come with them some are really poor quality and are not unsable i bought better ones. If the shaft has run out i put a indicator on mine it was good only a few thou. the washer and caps screw are not in a machined pilot like the wheel is so it will wobble some. If your shaft has excesive run out im sure Vevor make it Right i never had a problem with them. Maybe i need to make a video on improving the Vevor one!

@oakiewoodsman I mixed up my terminology a bit. I meant pitch rather than gauge. They're great for someone like me, who only uses one saw and chain pitch. If you use a variety, it's probably better to stick with the more traditional filing method rather than getting a 2-in-1 for each chain pitch you use.

@oakiewoodsman Understandable. They can definitely be a time saver if there's one type of chain that gets more use than the others. While it won't compare to a sharpening done by someone like Buckin' Billy Ray, it will get the chain sufficiently sharp for most users. It will get you cutting again quickly if you got your chain in the dirt, or hit a nail or glass in the tree.

The arbor is moving which means the rotor is bad or bearings have slop in them , if it's the bearings you could replace those and if you happen to have a lathe you may be able to do something with the rotor , but in the end it defeats why you bought the machine anyways since you have to pour more money into it to make it right...

@oakiewoodsman I would definitely warranty it , to me it seems somehow the rotor end shaft got bend during assembly , which is causing the issue you are having. You said it yourself, its good except for that garbage stone. Its like buying an expensive table saw and being to cheap to buy a really good blade for it. That problem is yours alone. Dont be a complainer and make yourself a good sharpener by spending a couple bucks, lol. Theres lots of really good tools out there that just need a few rough edges cleaned up that can rival the expensive brand names for a portion of the price.
