Vevor Garden Jet Pump - Better Than Harbor Freight?

I put the Vevor Garden Jet Pump Model XKJ-805S-1 through its paces to see whether it has practical use around the homestead. Priced only slight higher than the Harbor Freight model, but with a more robust build, I give an honest review of the pump highlighting both its benefits and its shortcomings.

Grease the " O " ring with Vaseline or auto type grease

You need a foot valve on intake side to keep the prime and keep debris out

Agreed. Despite the lift claims, keeping it primed is difficult. With that said, it works flawlessly with my rain barrel system where the water pressure is constantly flowing in

That's the same design impeller and the cap housing is very similar to my home shallow well pump that I replaced the impeller in yesterday. Btw, impeller was $134.95 !!! JUST THE IMPELLER

Yowser! This pump runs anywhere from $80-$110 depending upon site. Cheaper to just buy a new pump!

@@HomesteadDIY I agree but this was my pump for the house and outside stickers. 240 volts. Old school shallow well type not submersible and yes I was shocked too. The gaskets were 10 bucks a piece X 3. Thank God I can do my own " wrenching " still. Been a wrench since 1967 professionally cars for 20 years then went to marine repair at the dealerships till I got tired of who I was working for and did my own thing for 21. Time to retire I think lol.

Float your pick-up filter to just off the bottom ! Won't get clogged as easily if at all

I ended up making a filter out of some pvc connections and screen that did just that. Worked much, much better. The Vevor site does say its only for clean water so I really can't hold it against the pump.

@@HomesteadDIY for sure and om sure no one is saying that either. You did an excellent job of showing what this little pump can do. I thought I would give an idea I had for my own pump (transfer). I built a system using harbor freight Preditor series 6.5 hp engine and Northern tools kit pump in 3 inch size. For future use. ( shtf). That way I can help a lot of people get water from a lake etc. Thank you for your reply too. Great show !
