When your team chooses the wrong path and takes on violence...

We actually just went to a competition with this mech, so here are a few insights. Yes it’s possible to make it fully in size where it can swing all the way around. It’s scores on wall stakes very well, however two factors need to be perfect. The first is the position on the intake. The arm wont catch properly if the ring is too high or too low. We used a distance sensor to automatically stop it perfectly. The alignment needs to be dead on. If it’s not it won’t slap it down. This is the main problem. With a lady brown, the arm has control over the ring the entire time, which allows slight error in alignment. This mech has control of the ring with centripetal force, so there is a very small range of possible error. This mech can tip and un tip mobile goals quite well. Overall I would say that this mech has a lot of potential, however a lady brown is a much more reliable wall stake mech. This isn’t something you should try to implement last second without practice or an aligning system.

Isn’t it illegal, since it extends from the top and the back? The robot can only extend in one direction. Correct me if I’m wrong
@ryanoconnor173816 күн бұрын
Hey, Certified Ref here! The 24” expansion limit only counts for horizontal expansion, eg. forward, backwards, left, right (in perspective of the robot). You pick one of those directions and can only expand horizontally that direction. Vertical expansion is separate, and states that you cant be contacting more than 2 ‘planes’ of the ladder at a time. The rules that cover these are SG2 and SG3 respectively.

Does this mechanism work for wall stakes?
@Presi_Facts26 күн бұрын
I assume it wouldn't. Look at the height of the tip of the robot to the angle at which the arm is at its longest point. I assume they could do something else to implement this, however.

I mean I get that lady brown has 2 ring possibility but this one also has descore potential and 2 ring isn’t viable during matches
