How's the custom bike coming along? I love my V twin, no rushing about, just sit up and enjoy the view, totally different to the sports bikes I've had, 600 CBR, Blackbird etc, they all tempted me to go faster pretty much all of the time, my V twin lets me feel like I'm gonna make it home to see my kids again.

Dear Baron, i wondered if all of your bikes are actually insured? The insureance fees are the reason for me not to get a second bike... but i dont know if its just more expenisive in Germany. Mirror is fixable if (and I'm assuming it is) the same as that of a fazer, there is a riveted pivot hinge with a compression washer, in which the gap has grown, rivet stretched or washer flattened. I repaired said mirror using a g-clamp adding more pressure to the whole unit. I did this fix for a friend a couple of months ago and he says it's still good. :)

Part of the reason I ride a SH300 scooter as well as my ER6 is the fun at lower speeds. I live in London near Victoria park: no roads with speed limits higher than 30 on my regular routes. A bike that feels more at home with triple digit speeds is pointless in this situation. SH300 accelerates very quickly from a standing start to about 35mph, enough to outpace most IL4 600s not doing a clutch-slipping race start, top speed of 85mph per GPS, more than enough for city fun and very maneuverable.

Baron i had the same problem with my bikes wing mirror. The issue may have arisen from tightening the wing mirror too much, therefore creating a newer part of thread. This means that the wing mirror will now hold in place the further you turn it anticlockwise. You can fix this be buying a special type of tape which you cover over the male thread, place it into the female part and begin to create a new thread on the tape. This is how i fixed my wing mirror sorry if i am incorrect.

Or Take mirror off completely and remove tab on top to expose the pressure rivet place it in a vice with 2 suitable sized sockets either side of the rivet and squeeze it tighter in a vice. :)

Baron, you should make a compilation of your rages at drivers. Always give me a chuckle. :-) And just take your mirrors off, it makes you always do your shoulder checks anyway, unless you rely on your mirrors all the time. I only kept my right one, so I can see people trying to overtake etc.

For the mirror I had a similar problem on my bike, If it's the same as mine, it's due to a loose bolt caused by folding the mirror in and out again, you have to tighten a bolt inside the mirror stalk (sorry if I'm wrong and you have checked this) it's a bit of a tough one to get to on my old bike.

Baron i've done some reseach for you and apparently its a common fault, the K9+ ones are apparently made stronger so best get one of them from a bike scrapyard if not Ebay, the screws are black on them

Baron! Their is no way to fix your mirror. If it's loose and worn out then there's nothing you can do about it. There's no bolts that hold that pivot point. You'll need a new mirror. Or you can drill out the rivet that holds the mirror arm and base part and replace with a suitable washer's nuts and bolts and a shim to fill the bigger hole left by the pressure rivet.

Well female and male threads is an engineering term Baron. Bolt has male thread and a nut or a part that you screw in your bolt has a female thread. That is funny but that is true. Believe me, I laughed very hard when I was taught (or actually had to learn myself) this at university.
