One of the major issues we identified in our full review of the VFC M3 MAAWS, AKA the Carl Gustaf (or Gustav), was its inability to fire TAGINN shells. Today, we're going to take a look at what we need to do to get this launcher firing TAGINNs, and do a quick firing demo.

Clever! Maybe for something that works for both, drill a small hole in the tip of the firing pin and fit a grub screw with a small locking nut to ensure not all the pressure is on the thread. Then you can move the grub screw in and out as needed.

Instead of a pivoting firing pin a sliding design that uses a longer traveling trigger may cover the difference between the two types. Idk it's internals it's just a thought

nah, since VFC went out of their way to narrow the 40mm standard compatibility to boost sales of their inhouse sales. They should have went and did something outside the scope of 40mm compatibility and made something that would closer simulate a recoiless rifle prokectile. Its a case of cool idea with _compromises_ an M320 replica can do the same with TAG projectiles and costs 1/3 the price, more versatile and 1/5 the size

Honestly I'd much rather get some PVC pipe and mock up a LAW rather than buy an off the shelf airsoft recoilless rifle. Would be a fun project.

regarding the projectile drop, i have theory that if you put PVC down it to the length of the shell, you could probably fill the rest of the space with 3D printed center guides. And regarding the rifling, you could also maybe 3D print the center pipe with rifling to TAGinn specs, but that might have minor issues with it because of the fact 3D printing has errors in it. Again, just theory.

PVC is a solid suggestion and honestly the rifling could be worth trying. Likely wouldn't need much

You could just print a replacement back plate and carry that around for other types of grenades

I'd imagine just sanding down the longer firing pin would be an easy way to get a middle ground solution.

Maybe try to put a grub screw on the firing pin that way you can tune the lengh

have you thought of pringing replacement plates that mount the firing pin? then you can just carry a spare replacement plate that allows use of standard moscarts

all thats left is to 3d print the entire shell with a 2in pvc bore to use co2 shells paired with nerf football...u can also just 3dprint a spacer to glue on the taginn shell instead of replacing the firing pin

Wouldn't it be possible to simply 3d print an entire replacement shell baseplate, so you have two one with the extended pin, one without? This way you can load a shower shell with the proper baseplate, fire it, reload with a Taginn, but instead of using the baseplate with the normal pin, you use the baseplate with the extended pin. Keeping the baseplates straight would be the only problem for the AG (provided you're using one and haven't killed him with the backblast... giggle), and that could be solved with a simple can of spray paint, or colored filament.

where are people even getting taginn ammo anymore? atf banned them and even before that the russian ban made it even harder to get them

A lot of folks have large stockpiles of the pyrotechnic rounds, and the non-pyro rounds are actually still pretty easy to get in the US. Thankfully TAGINN moved their production to Latvia, so the Russian import ban is no longer a problem. Keep your eyes peeled though, apparently in the next couple of days TAGINN is prepping an announcement regarding potential ATF approval.

What about just gluing a steel shim on the back of the TAGINN striker valve?

That sounds like it'd be totally viable, but might give you trouble in other launchers, and wouldn't be reversible, unfortunately.

for the propellant, would the issue of the range change if you use a novritsch black gas since it has a higher power than regular green gas?

Great mod! Is there a thought process around this solution vs adding a small shim to the round so the stock firing pin could hit it?

A shim should do exactly the same thing, but might make the TAG shells incompatible with other launchers that don't have the same firing pin setup as the M3 does. But if you had no plans to use the TAG shells in another launcher, sounds totally viable!
