The VFR has the drips from the carb vent hose. I dig in to find out why. Float issues? Float valve problems? Dunno. I am trying out a new knock-off action cam in this video as well. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the upload. Yours is the second set of vfr750f carbs I've seen without rubber trumpets coming up from the air filter part of the carbs where mine has them. Wonder why.

The only ones I’ve seen with them are VF750 carbs not VFR but I’ve worked on more VF’s than my single VFR. You’re taking about a VF or VFR?

@@MotoRestoFL My 1989 Vfr750f. There are 4 rubber trumpets coming up from the carbs and held in place by the air filter metal bottom housing. Just looked online and looks like the later gen 2 have them... Here's my upload of my bike. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqu8qaGvmpaUfpo

Only ever use genuine float valve sets. From bitter experience I can tell you pattern ones are way too imprecisely made. Recommended float heights (7-9mm) will be totally innacurate.

My friend. Thanks for helping us out. I have 500F with high idle issues. Other than that, cranks and runs better than new. Sure, we will replace boots, lubrication of throttle, and choke cables, maybe a quick carburetors cleaning. Do you think we should totally disassemble and replace cross tubes. Also, it's been converted to gravity flow. Are you located in the northern half of Florida?

West coast of Florida, just south of Tampa. It depends on whether you want to replace the tubes/Tee's for preventive reasons or if they're leaking. If they're not leaking, you may just want to leave them alone. Again, it depends. Look at the big picture. Is the bike really pristine or a ratty ride? If the latter, don't put the work into it unless needed. You need to synchronize the carbs, that'll probably bring your idle down and eliminate the hanging, as will your other suggested work such as boots and lubrication. As for gravity flow, I cannot offer anything on that since I haven't done such a conversion.

Are these carbs the ones that had the different length Springs on top of the needles? When I looked at the parts diagram all4 of those springs for my VFR750 carried the same part #. Just saying. Enjoyed the video Tom and RIDE SAFE!

No. That's just on the 82-83 VF750 to my knowledge.

Sucks that this happened but good for us.. I'm going to be doing a rebuild on mine in the next few weeks. On a different note.. what brand and tire size are you running? Please and thank you.

Burnish the float valve seats with a peg of wood sharpened in a pencil sharpener.

What tells the fuel pump to turn on and off? Is the gas dribbling out or is it a lot? I'm curious because I have the same bike.

The fuel pump has the on-off mechanism embedded within itself, hidden behind a plastic cover in the rear section of the fuel pump. It has some sort of lever that moves as soon as the fuel pressure is built from the closure of the float valves. That lever makes the fuel pump power contacts separate and interrupt the electricity flow to the fuel pump motor. As soon as the float level goes down from the engine consuming its stored fuel, the needle valves can also go down, lowering the pressure of the fuel rail, making the fuel pump contacts touch each other and repeat the fueling cycle. I own one of these machines, a 91 model to be exact, and had to go through it to have it running. The videos from this channel helped a lot!

Nope. All four plugs same carboned up, exactly same looking in fact. It's fuel. Or, at least was. Hopefully.
