Ghostbusters: Afterlife... I had no expectations going into watching the movie. Then it blew my mind and had me in tears more than I had ever expected. I am a HUGE fan of the original movies, and this truly feels like they can carry the series forward. The way they brought Egon to life and as a ghost was beautiful, and I hope he is smiling.

yeah the way they handled the Egon character was so beautifully done, both as a way to bring back a character when the actor that played them has passed but also as a tribute to Harold Ramis in one of his most iconic roles one of the touches they didn't touch on, being as they focus on VFX, but I love in the movie how right when ghost Egon's hand appears all the sound cuts out and goes to silence for a good 10 seconds only for the score to finally fade back in as Egon is fully revealed

@@RobinHood3000 Apart from me not liking the humour, what irked me most is that they replaced Janine with basically the male form of a dumb blonde. Janine was a powerhouse, she ran that joint.
@RobinHood3000
@RobinHood3000 9 ай бұрын
@@mrflappie6553 That's a fair critique. Speaking for myself, I really enjoyed seeing Chris Hemsworth do some comedy, and I thought Leslie Jones was a great take on Winston's "everyman" role. Here's the thing, though, I love Janine, but if I want to see Janine be awesome, I can just go back and watch Janine. I don't really think it's fair to judge a new film as though it's trying to replace its predecessor, instead of on its own merits/flaws, *especially* when we know we have strong nostalgic feelings for the original. That's just asking for disappointment, imo.
@fs9553
@fs9553 9 ай бұрын
@@RobinHood3000 I hated it, it was forced, not funny and lacked every little bit of what made the others good movies. The fact that a side character had to save what little there was left (Chris as Kevin) and had to destroy a good side character in the process for it says enough.

In the UK back in about 86, 87-ish video rentals were the thing, to purchase an original copy of a movie you'd have to wait at least 3 years after the movie was in theatres before you could buy it and then it was expensive like £80.. We had a video rental place that would deliver and collect your movie 2 days later. I rented ghostbusters, they never came back for it. having the original movie and not a pirated copy as a kid made me a legend in my school XD

I think it was really neat that the look the production was going for was specifically an older Egon and not necessarily an older Harold Ramis. 11:02 Came in here to say this glad someone else knew it. Set 2 years after film 2 it stars the voices of all the principal characters something Aykroyd didn't think would happen as Bill Murry was reluctant to do more ghostbusters content. As the end of a trilogy it was only fitting that the the final boss would be Ivo Shandor. Ivo founded the Cult of Gozer and following Gozer's instructions built 550 Central Park West (GB1) in exchange for mystical power. Ivo's machinations are the source of the mood slime in GB2. It was a great ending for a villain not many actually experienced as the game only sold just over 3 million units. In Afterlife is it his body preserved in the glass awaiting Gozers return. I never played it but i knew it was episode 3. Do better research Corridor Crew.

Honestly, I can quote big parts of the first Ghostbusters movie because I saw it in theaters and wore out my VHS copy back in the late 80's, but still Afterlife is absolutely my favorite. Mckenna Grace is cute as a button, and I love her science nerd character Phoebe, and Antman, I mean Paul Rudd is an absolute treasure, and thank Jason Reitman SO much for making the movie. Also, how cool and sexy is it that they got an uncredited Olivia Wilde to play Gozer, amazing. I wish she had been in the credits for the movie because she was amazing. I will hell yeah go see the next movie in theaters, even though my nearest theater is an hour away, worth it. Also, I have an issue with calling them "Terror Dogs". They are actually gargoyles, which were used on medieval and medieval inspired structures to scare off spirits, and of course medieval people gave no thought to the idea that their gargoyle "protectors" could actually be problems in themselves, which the writers of the original Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis took excellent advantage of.

You opened my eyes to this for Barbie & Top Gun Maverick (even showing the edited "behind the scenes" footage hiding blue screens), but it's still a topic few people are even aware of. I just saw an interview about Dune 2 focusing on "practical effects," but we all know the final shots are a blend of CGI or just CGI all together.

If you like the design of that Terror Dog puppet, look up the rig that the Jim Henson company uses for a bunch of stuff (Most famously Big Bird on Sesame Street, but also Bear from Bear In The Big Blue House and a similar rig is used for some of those big Coca Cola Polar Bear suits) where they have a television monitor strapped to their chest, one arm up in the head, the other arm in one of the suit's arms, and that arm rigged to the other with a wire to allow for movement. I bring it up because one of the really impressive things from hearing from the puppeteer who played Bear was that he was walking around on a set that was filled with puppeteer pits for the puppeteers running the smaller characters in the scenes, and navigating the whole thing from a third person view (AFAIK there was no third camera, he was working from the actual feed from the show cameras) with no view of those pits, all while dancing around in a giant bear costume.

Please react to dune part two! The visuals are insane! The final battle when the sandworms charge is such a perfect combination of practical and cg, and there's a specific scene in the middle of the film where a priestess handles a young sandworm, I can't tell how much is practical and how much is cg but it would be awesome if you could have a look at it! Thanks! I really enjoy watching your reacts!

I'm not going to spoil anything. But the final scene of "Frozen Empire" had a gag in it that absolutely broke me. One of the funniest things I've ever seen. And it was definitely done for the older crowd because hardly anybody under 30 would even understand what happened. That, to me, is what separates great films from good ones- little details that don't need to exist but that add something you didn't know you needed.

There wasn’t a dry eye in my house when we saw how they handled Ramis. Hell I swelled up just watching that part in this video. It was handled so immaculately, respectfully, and they got the blessing of his family the whole the way through to make sure it was done right

Fun fact: the actor who did the body doubling for Egon in Ghostbusters: Afterlife was Bob Gunton, who played, among a litany of terrific roles, Warden Norton in The Shawshank Redemption.

As a lifelong fan who saw the original as a child in the cinema, everyone who worked on that film should feel proud of the work they did. People say it's a love-letter, when I watched it I thought of it as a continuation.

I know I’ve seen you do clips from Mission Impossible before but I have two suggestions from MI Fallout. 1st is when Solomon Lane is in the armored truck that fills with water. I think that angle is fascinating and would love to see how they did that. Another is when Benji assumes Lane’s likeness. That transition is really cool.

I can just imagine Jordan being hired as the receptionist for the Ghostbusters and he just can't help himself but to remix the company slogan every time he answers a call. "Hey this is the Ghostbusters, we've been busting all over town!"

Of all the movies that came out in the 80s, Ghostbusters had easily some of the best visuals for a comedy film. No matter how many times I’ve watched it, both 1 and 2, the visual effects always hold up.
