Chris Maciel Actually not at all. Ppmd is way less grab focused and puts way more emphasis on movement and edge guards. But we haven't seen his Marth against a lot of high level Foxes. Or him in general

I think I would give credit to anyone who wins a tourney withat least 2 gods in attendance and you at least play against 1 of them. obviously this is not a super major big win, but i would count it as a credible win because of my criteria. He beat Hbox who is number 2 in the world and a hot Sfat twice who also beat Hbox. And won from Loser's bracket. So I would give him credit.

Melee in 2017: -Can only beat puff (hbox) with fox. Applies for everyone. -Marth will for ever destroy foxes as long as m2k exists. -Armada is going to forever turnip camp in order to make more $$$, but when he doesn't show up tournaments instantly become more enjoyable to watch and I'm sure the players have a much more fun to time in bracket. -Cpt. Falcon hype will never die, and once in a fullmoon he'll take 2nd or 3rd at a tournament, but is still a low tier character kappa -Falco is dead -Mango is dead -Ice climbers are still the sharks of pools -20XX is a thing...but like I said as long as m2k (and hbox) exist, it will not happen -luigi? that is all, thank you for your time.

Mew2King is my favorite Melee player. He reminds me of Payton Manning; a highly technical player who concerns himself with every possible mechanic in the game. Both are fun to watch.

I think its a little bit disrespectful when people who rank the smashers think that some tournaments aren't majors only because one or two other gods aren't present. There were a lot of good and top level players in this tournament. It feels as if they just think that no other player is of any value or recognition at all in general. Just because Armada isnt present, or Mang0, doesn't mean Mew2king didn't win what was considered a major, or anyone else if they would have won otherwise. I love all the gods of melee but One god or two missing aren't half of what makes a whole tournament, especially a major. #treateveryoneequally #itsjustagame

Everybody has been so conditioned to think everyone who is a non-god is LITERALLY just fodder, that they have no significance because they don't hold the title of a "God". This is probably why I don't seek out competitive melee as much as smash4... You have to be good in smash4 competitive, but in Melee you literally have to almost be perfect when playing competitively

When it comes to the top players, then difenitly. That's why i love Melee compared to the others smash game (or any other competetive fighting game, for that matter). It's so fast paced and precise, where the other smash games feels slow in comparison. However i respect the other games too, as they represent a different skill level, thus a much bigger competetition, with much more room for newcomers c:

The commentators fastly reacted on M2k's Marth jumping directly up from the platform, SFAT reacted to it but missed as it was potentially a free stuck for a short second. Melee is so hype, so commentators always does this stuff XD

Some of the best Marth play at human level. If all Marth's played this way they'd get first or second all the time. Sheik and Fox are the reasons why Marth won't ever be first imo. At TAS levels I bet Sheik and Fox needle and laser Marth to 300 percent then KO him. I could be wrong though tournaments like these exist to not allow that.

I don’t really play melee or understand the rules competitively speaking, is there a reason m2k couldn’t/shouldn’t dash dance at the start of g1? The commentators and sfat both said something about it, and I’m just confused why it’s not allowed, is it a rule there supposed to hit each other immediately as the game starts?

Its more like its really impolite than it is against the rules. The idea of what they were doing was that they waited an equal distance away from the centre of the stage (the best place to be) until the timer hits a certain number and then they allow themselves to move. By moving around like that m2k is making his position ambiguous and by nature of how much he was dash dancing, controlling more stage than if he stood still (which is what sfat did)

But majors and super majors are different, and if people think M2K didn't win a major here, then that's where I call BS. Its not a matter of the matchup, in fact I'd probably call it 50-50 in high levels. But as a midlevel tech heavy fox who likes to play aggressive I personally feel that Marth can simply wall me out too well, and my only real counter is like wavedash back or other movement mixups. I don't think that it's impossible, but it forces me to slow down a lot and play much more campy and laser till I can find a jab upsmash or upthrow up-air. I also don't agree with the whole Sheik Marth really being too much of a matchup benefit in the way of Sheik but that might just be personal bias. I would just say that SFAT lost here because he didn't capitalize enough on the punishes he had on M2K. You can really tell the difference between SFAT and M2K to a leffen M2K set. It's a fine line of having to respect M2K's ledge game and also going for those punishes but you just have to lab out the different scenerios and get them down really well so you don't fall into his ledge setups. My biggest issue with Fox in general is that everything you do is super committal which people don't often understand. Like missing a waveshine can lead to a kill, or a not perfect ledgedash, or a bad shine oos; but with that he can also do awesome things if he isn't fucking up tech and can make the most of his movement.

Your position at the start of the game is determined by what controller port you are using. Sometimes this can create an unfair advantage for one of the players. To avoid this, sometimes players will agree to a neutral start. This is simply running to the opposite sides of the stage so as to create an even starting position.
