Okay but like genuinely?? Starting in game 3 he immediately caught on to BMP playing way more carefully when Psych Up is active, and for the last 3 games as soon as Psych Up is selected, Miya turns on the gas and doesn't let Paul sit back and look for an opening. He got like 4 kills just from knowing Paul wouldn't swing out of disadvantage and waste the Psych Up on hitting shield. Even if he didn't become fluent, he definitely learned how to read that one.

There were times when BMP had Bounce on the menu but didn't select it, and I don't understand why. It reflects G&W's up air, which BMP consistently struggled against. I don't know if BMP have won, but he would have been much better off if he chose Bounce whenever it appeared.

Either way someone would be at a disadvantage, that's just how it is with Hero and language spells. When US players go to Japan tournaments they have to deal with not being able to read the menu like when Leo fought Akakikusu at Delta. Or when Akakikusu went to Genesis and spent months practicing on the english menu since he couldn't have it in Japanese. That's something BeastmodePaul would have to deal with too if he ever traveled to a non english speaking country.

bucket is really bad in this match up esp since i dont think miya knows english, the only thing really worth bucketing is frizzle kafrizz bang and kaboom (and sizz/sizzle but thats like impossible to do on purpose unless you’re fishing for it) but paul was really only throwing out frizz and if you cant read menu its really hard to bucket the right parts of bang and kaboom, because the woosh line gets reflected, zap line isn’t actually a projectile, and all menu projectiles are either two-hitters (so the bucket absorbs the weak initial hit and not the strong hit) or really weak (thwack, whack, snooze)
