These commentators keep complaining about Marth like it's not just Zain being that good. If it was just Marth there would be more top level Marths.

I think it's one of those phenomenons kinda like Samus where Marth is really easy to pick up and beat people with at the lower level. I train casuals all the time and the majority fair the best with Marth from the start. However, once they start advancing to 'mid-level' play and above everyone is pretty good against Marth cuz they've had to deal with all the cheesy lower level Marth stuff and good Marths so they're very versed in the MU. So to a lot of Marths it probably seems like they're plateauing and not going to get any better after mid level(and maybe not any better at the game). So I think it's really easy to succeed at a lower level with Marth because of his disjoint, not much lag, easy to learn recovery, pretty simple moveset, and overall as a character he is pretty ergonomic anyways but a lot of players lose their fire because they may have not had to been that technical or precise to get to that level with Marth so the cracks in their fundamentals start to show. As you progress to the top level there is even more nuanced Marth counterplay and understanding his punish game, anti-cc etc is more important. It's kinda one of those things where people that are looking for an easier character don't advance as far in this game because they were looking for a lower skill cap that they could hit quicker and they find out it's a really hard game anyways at the top level so they get disheartened easier. I see the same phenomenon happening with Sheik, Puff, Samus, and to an extent Falco. There is a lot of those characters at the bottom level to mid level and very few at the top. I don't think it's because Marth and Sheik aren't dope. Also, I think they're lower concept than fox or Falcon in some ways maybe and less challenging because of lesser technicality so there are longer plateaus with Marth and Sheik and therefore, you don't receive as much positive feedback from learning things like you would as Fox or Yoshi advancing through the top level. However, that being said Zain is a god but that being said sometimes I think Amsa is the best now loll

Fox players did it with Puff when it was literally just Hbox winning stuff, they'll do it with Marth cuz of Zain, they'll do it with any other character that starts doing well. Fox players just complain about matchups that aren't completely free
