The thing that I kinda noticed tho..During near the end of Hollow mind, his first glyph is literally a huge vine wall that protects Luz by preventing the inner Belos' sythe or ax looking hand thingy to attack directly at her. For his first glyph summon, that was very impressive in my opinion...

By the way, the blasts didn't bounce because they did so on their own, rather it was because the environment he was fighting in richochets magic naturally. You can see it when they enter the cave and King fires a magic drill; The blast bounces around and Hunter gives some exposition about how the cave will ricochet magic.

The thing about Hunter is that we very rarely see him fight with a clear state of mind. The only time I remember seeing him composed during a fight was when he fought Eda and Luz toward the beginning of Season 2. In all his other fights he was very clearly not emotionally well, and his fighting struggled for it. Especially against Amity where he was physically and emotionally exhausted, as well as using a real staff for the first time in his life. I'm hoping that during the final battle with Belos or against The Collector we finally see him fighting with a clear head. That way we can truly see what our "bad but sad boy" is capable of.

People like to say that Amity beat Hunter easily during their fight in Ecliple Lake, but honestly I don't think that proves she's stronger. In fact, she really didn't even beat Hunter at all. For one thing, Hunter was tired, beaten up, emotionally drained, and was fighting with a weapon he had never used before. Even with his handicaps, he was pretty proactive for most of the fight, keeping Amity on the back foot with repeated attacks, and generally being in control of the fight. Amity even had King's help at several points during their fight, but once it was over she couldn't even pull out the win, only managing a stalemate. So yeah, I'd say Hunter's at least a good deal more powerful than Amity.

I would say one advantage that Hunter has is just how much of a hard worker he is. He's constantly talking about all the studying he does _on his own time_ and even in the brief shot of his room in "Hunting Palisman", there's a giant stack of books on the table next to his bed. Whatever he may lack in raw power, he makes up for in determination and ingenuity. Personally, I like that they gave him more speed with Flapjack, I think it suits his personal fighting style way better than the pure offensive power. And that said, the moment while fighting Amity when he's first trying to use Flapjack is one of my favorite scenes with him. He literally figures out how to use his new staff in just 3 attempts all while the fight in _ongoing._ Impressive af.

One thing you haven’t mentioned was that Hunter is, while not fireproof, heat resistant as he was inside the boiling fist, and was unharmed when he came out, even though he was literally steaming. Only king was with him and both kings species, and selkidomis scales are largely immune to the effects of the boiling sea

About a potential power-up, I thought he could possibly tap into his heritage as a Grimwalker and get actual magic. Let me explain: If we take Darius seriously for a moment when it came to the previous GG, supposedly he was the most powerful witch so he in fact did have actual magic of his own, especially since Hunter himself made a key difference in not having magic while arguing with Darius that supposedly was affecting comparison between him and his predecessor. We also know that according to the Grimwalker pages, Galderstones are used for both Heart and Power, so perhaps there's a good chance Hunter could regain powers by coming in contact with Galderstone. Philip is a bitter person and there's a huge age gap between Hunter and his predecessor, so it's possible Belos limited Hunter's magical capabilities on purpose to make Hunter more dependent on Belos and less likely to rebel and get under his skin with magical skills and there also might've been a time where he was running low on resources for Grimwalker creation(supposedly Adrian mentioned Emperor is looking for them and they would make a great gift and are also rare since the glass ruins graveyard is a very hidden place). Perhaps Hunter actually doesn't have an actual Galderstone or has a very little one so he, in fact, didn't develop a bile sack while developing other typical witch's physics. I don't believe his body is actual wood and stones and is flesh and blood that transformed earlier from said wood and stones, but some capabilities of ingredients that were used to create Hunter may still be apparent, even if supposedly to a very little degree. Considering how Palistroom wood is used to create Palismans that have their own source of magic, I think that when coming in contact with Galderstone which is also a natural magic amplifier along with Palistroom wood, Hunter may actually get the ability to cast spells without the help of any staff, or maybe even enhancing his staff's capabilities. The obvious drawback would be Hunter having to have a constant connection with the Galderstone and also possibly could get exhausted when overusing its capabilities. Since instead of having a bile sack that helps the magic flow through the witch's veins and grants them reality-warping abilities, Hunter would use his entire body which may put a strain on it at the very beginning. Kind of like Anne getting extra tired after using her Calamity Powers, but slowly getting more of a grip over them and growing in power. Also considering how Gus knows the location of the stones and knows by now the recipe for making a Grimwalkers since he saw Belos's memories, including the creation of the very first Grimwalker and the bond he now shares with Hunter, I think Gus could help him get stronger (so it also fits the power of friendship yadda-yadda).

Hunter would be the most powerful witch out of the group if it weren't for two things 1. His trauma that he has on a daily basis 2. The ability to duel wield his artificial staff and Flapjack The second point could've easily been in the show, but I am confused as to why he stopped using it other than the reason of disconnecting himself from Belos. Probably had a tracker or a lock when Belos found out who he was.

Perhaps he'd just lost it. In Hollow Mind, when Luz jumps on him during his attempt to arrest the rebels, his artificial staff falls on the ground. After the rebels' escape, Hunter summons Flapjack for some reason (maybe he'd grown to him by that time). Then both he and Luz get teleported into Belos' mind, yadda yadda, and end up on the floor of the Owl House. Hunter runs away and finds a shelter to hide, his Golden Guard mask and artificial staff are probably forgotten in that alleyway. So yeah, perhaps he didn't think of trying to find the staff and\or he didn't want to go outside much with the risk of being recognized. And he had Flapjack so he didn't think it was necessary to get the artificial staff back.

I do think you forgot to mention how quickly he learned how to use glyphs. Also his abilities as a grimwalker one of his most noticeable is being resistant to high temperatures. Also directly due to being made out of palesman wood and golderstones Hunter theoretically is a huge conductor of magic, if hooked up to the right magic he could amplify it.

Well that scar on his cheek now you're face heals pretty fast and on the usual doesn't leave a scar so for him to have that big or a scar on his face he had to get pretty messed up like hole chunk of his face messed up and seeing the vine that was used by belose the shape is identical meaning this was probably him so who knows what other scars he could have. And the reason pain tolerance matters here is because if you have a low pain tolerance that means a couple of hits and you go down where Hunter on the other hand haveing a intire chunk of his face removed and still being able to forgive belose and still thinking he cared about him shows how high his level of pain tolerance really is!

I think logically it really sucks he got rid of the staff from Belos. Like yeah emotionally it makes sense, he was traumatized and not thinking totally logically, but magic is too important of a factor to loose and I'm not talking how he was technically stronger with it. I'm talking that he completely relies on the staffs for magic (save for glyphs but those have the downside of running out) it'd be good to carry around a backup. (altho how cool would it be to see him dual-wield Flapjack and the Artificial staff, it'd give off Thor with Stormbreaker and Mjolnir vibes).

He technically got nerfed again, but not by much, once he absorbed Flap. We only see him flashstep after that, not any of Flap's other abilities.
