Absolutely Brilliant. Used to do Autocross in the 1980s bought back some excellent memories. Lots of well remembered names, cars and great drivers, and the Superb Mr Murray Walker. Perfect combo. Brill 👌👍

I wish I lived in Britain in the '80s. Being such a big Ford fan it was one of their great decades in racing. So glad Welsh won one for the home crowd. I see this announcer's car being an MG-TC or Morgan 3-wheeler.
@Mind-your-own-beeswax18 күн бұрын
This ‘announcer’ is more well known and famous than any of the drivers. The legend Murray Walker.
@Malibu151518 күн бұрын
@Mind-your-own-beeswax ya okay😒. Did they make a movie about Murray?...or was that his co-announcer that was far more famous?! You should try living what you preach.

Thank you so very much for this great race. I saw these beasts or some of them race less than a mile from my child hood home.Alamaki, Schanche, Niittymaki, Arnesson (won) and many others. I was young but I can remember those cars. What a time to be alive that was.

@@sagbrukje Yes, think of building a winning car in your own carage like Alamaki, the most powerful 911 ever atleast outside Le Mans, tho not sure if there was such a car in there either. And Scanche, he had some money, but not in anywhere in the spectrum like todays cars. It was more of having the right kind of contacts. Kaali Kalle for example got his parts straight from Volvo to win Finlands local rally cross series in rwd class or national rally cross class, Alamaki was in contact with Porsche and Scanche knew the whole performance part industry in Britain, being a designer or atleast visioner and test driver for x-trac etc. might remember the differential/trans company. And on top of all, trans was understood only as being part of an automobile, some other motor vehicle or industrial machine 😅

BHP was always the stuff of Legends in Rallycross but drivability mainly ruled out too many horses. Great watch good to see again.

I'll be honest, I don't much care if it's rallycross, F1, a bunch of snails or a couple of raindrops dribbling down a window, I'll watch any race if Murray Walker is doing the commentary.

This is amazing. I use to have an 1986 Mercury Lynx XR3. I wish we could get those wonderful RS Escorts here in America.
@mortenfrosthansen8410 ай бұрын
Really glad they didn't.. That weird bumper that was stuck on european cars, to abide by the rules, made them look absolutely hideous. Especially the Merc's got ruined. In the movie, Coming to America with Eddie Murphy, they used the european version of 560 SEL, or type W126

@@mortenfrosthansen84 yes because we all know looks are more important than performance....😑
@mortenfrosthansen8418 күн бұрын
@@Malibu1515 It was for private cars, they fitted that. And if the racing cars had to be homologated then it was part of the car. They were actually only useful in small fender benders... in a mid to high speed collision, they became piercing rods that impaled anything in front of the car. So yeah it was a terrible idea, terrible results and also looked terrible. Luckily we get smarter as time goes by
@Malibu151517 күн бұрын
@mortenfrosthansen84 we had the same effed up crap in America so what difference would it have made. I get it, you're about being a poser putting looks above everything. I've always put performance at the top. To each his own, I guess.

Most of the group B Rallycross cars had about 650 hp. The Porsche bi-turbos had 750 bhp what was only just drivable down to the Finn drivers. Gollop's bi-turbo 6R4 could have gone to 800 hp but wouldn’t have been drivable and struggled anyhow to keep the tyres on the rims
