Ekko thought after all these years that everyone he cared for was dead both literal and figuratively, forcing him to tough himself up with what he learned to ensure it never happened again to his new one. But knowing that his "Big Sister" was alive and well and finally realizing she was there for him finally allowed him to have closure and comfort that he never thought he would ever feel again. Allowing him to soften for just a few moments to know that he was not alone anymore.

It's tragic that that same feeling is also what caused him to hesitate to finish off Jinx. He almost got blown up because of that.The story would be wildly different if it wasn't for that.

Except that at this point he doesn't really need anyone to take care of him. He is a charismatic leader who runs an organization. Rather, he needs her as one more soldier in his ranks and not as a nanny. Obviously it doesn't change their emotional bond, because yes he still considers her as someone who is dear to him but it's no longer a relationship of the little brother who needs to be protected by his big sister..

Ekko turning into such a hardass that he treated Vi with all this hostility as they meet again for the first time in years, yet it is both heartwarming and heartbreaking to see how much a simple hug disarmed him. Same with Jinx, something in your life has gone very wrong if a hug is all takes to reduce you to tears.

@@Pinnster In that scene, the version that gets shot is kid Ekko, meant to be a flashback to when they used to play together (it's why Jinx recognizes what he's doing and laughs as she squares up; as shown in the flashback, Powder used to win that game.) They shot the scene that way, showing the present after 'rewinding' the flashback, to foreshadow Ekko's ability to do that later on. If that doesn't convince you, consider that Ekko can only time jump with his invention (The Z-Drive), which is a bulky device he carries on his back after he invents it. You can see he doesn't have it on the bridge scene with Jinx.

Second - he has that device at least that metal container where he keeps crystal is literally same he use in his "Seconds" video may be it didnt finish yet but he already working on it and in season 2 heimer can help him with it or something else may happen

@@Pinnster 'Years' may have been a careless choice of words; my point was simply that this story takes place before he's completed the device, even if he is presently collecting the parts that he's going to use for it (whether he's had the idea yet or not). I think the pocket watch on the bridge is just part of the foreshadowing and the stylization of the event; a way to connect Ekko's future destiny to his whole theme/mindset of "it's not going to go the way it did back then." Shoot, for that matter maybe the bridge scene is what gives him the idea for the Z-Drive in the first place. I agree that it's likely he'll make progress on the idea with Heimerdinger.

These might turn into the cannon look or something like that. As you remember every character in this are getting arcane skins for free. But they are also not at their max age yet from league so there is chance for them to change.
