I'm part Filipino, spent 12 years in the Philippines only, left in 1997. When I visited few years back pre-pandemic, I asked my cousin to take me for a ride in a "jeep/jeepney". There's an English song that started to play, then people started singing along, they don't know each other haha. It was so fun and amazing, I actually took a video of it and started singing along too. I think music is part of Filipinos' resilience. I learned how to sing at 3 years old(Somewhere Out There), because of my Filipino relatives🤣🎤 🎶🎶

My heart is feeling so happy knowing a person like you admire Filipinos for their singing abilities. In general, most of us Filipinos loves to listen to songs and other music. At times,we sing along if we get used to the songs and the lyrics, no matter if our voice is out of tune.In family gatherings like birthday party, any celebration with friends,neighbors, classmates,etc we sing if there's karaoke. Even kids nowadays can sing well and join any singing contests to showcase their talents. Singing is part of Filipinos life that gives them happiness, release sadness, give them hope.

It's more like "we won't live without music" that is why singing always been part of our culture. Whenever we're doin something wheather it's cleaning,cooking, doin laundry, just casually sittin' at home with the family or friends,WE SING or even whenever we feel down,happy, sad,excited WE SING basically it's our stress reliever. MUSIC IS LIFE. That's why a most of Filipinos knows how to sing cause we've been singing throught out our lives and also KARAOKE hahaha mostly in Filipino family setting when we're gather up together there is always karaoke and the ones that goes into to karaoke playlist will always be the classic ballads like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston,Mariah Carey and etc. Most of them are power vocals and classics songs from the 50s,60s,70s,80s 90s and up until to today's generation. the funny thing is that each persons has/have there own karaoke playlist and it is surely fun 😊.

yes singing after dinner , I will share to you all my mother's story,. My mother is a sibling of 15, yes one mother one father. most of the nights after dinner my granfather will call his children out in the veranda for fresh air, most of the siblings play an instrument my mother plays the guitar. Tenor , bandio,and ukelele are very popular instrument back then ,I am 63 years old now so you can figure out how long ago is these, at least they have 4 musical instruments to play with. my grand father will be the Maestro, and they play as a family band how awesome is that.

Typical, regular gathering in the Philippines. Absolutely normal. You can see this in any houses where Filipino would get together and sing. Mondays to Sundays, with occasion or none, rain or shine. At least one in a group of friends is a singer in the Philippines. Either he/she was a member of a choir before, has sung in churches, or if not, at least can play an instrument. But we hope that more of us will be exposed to classical and standard music, because experts say it's healthier to sing that way. Nevertheless, pop singing is so main stream that everyone, even those who can't sing, try to sing along too. It's maybe because we encourage everyon to try sing, even from childhood. P.S. When I was 8 years old till I went to 22. We played sing along with Jukebox, think about it. You put 25 cents on the machine and it will played music of your choice. Eight years old... 1971 25 cents that's a lot. So you better get your choice of selecting your favorite. Then you sing along with your favorite music and your friends will enjoy it as well. This is our favorite game and remember that pilipino invented the karaoke and a pretty good share in development of computer systems.

My whole paternal side family can sing very well. My dad and aunts are good singers, they got it, I mean we got it from my grandfather. But it's so hard to compete with a lot of singers in the town 😅, it's quiet a lot of pressure if you'll get to a competition. Well we just do singing as a hobby. Hahahaha that’s our happy pill. I have 5 sisters and 2 of my sisters sings and almost all our kids at least has 1 or 2 that sings. I married to break dancer so my kids dances too. And they can carry a tune as well lol … I just realized this gatherings is purely for fun that sometimes turns out into concerts.
