Art, culture and nature are just a few of the reasons for visiting Apulia, on a trip full of surprises to discover a land which speaks a new language of emotions. Among the region's castles and towers, palaces, museums and art galleries, you will see so many new things, including the lovely Murgia and charming old towns. Puglia is varied and diverse, offering visitors all kinds of lively colours, sounds and fragrances. The people are warm and hospitable; every landscape is full of natural beauty, and every time you look there is always something new and different to discover, offering unique experiences and emotions. The lime-stone gorges, sink-holes, and dolines, along with nature reserves, protected parks and areas all tell the story of how man has acted on the land to transform it according to his requirements.
It is really worth stopping for a few days in one of the cities or small towns in the provinces in order to explore the splendid fortified farmhouses which dot the landscape, the many noble residences and the numerous historical buildings in the city centres. Many of these have been converted into venues for cultural events and now house splendid art collections, galleries and museums.
Apulia is also traditional craftsmanship and typical Mediterranean agro-food products. The entire region has so many excellent products to offer, and you can try them on alternative itineraries taking in the underground olive oil presses, typical activities and the grape presses, all part of a long history of traditions representing the flavours and values of a people proud of their land and of their closeness to it. This special history is nowadays increasingly a collective story, due to the work of the Italian cinema and its artists - from Pasolini to Monicelli, from Wertműller to Salvatores and Rubini -- who have chosen and filmed previously unexplored areas of Apulia, revealing a new viewpoint for admiring a region which should really be "tasted".
