that in the video was the capital building not the white house, the military were deployed in Minneapolis. Prof was born in minneapolis, never left and has a home 4 minutes from where the riots happened. he sat in his yard all day hosing mace off of people and helping any way he could.

Their used to be an old old song that was about Louisiana where they guy would sing "come to great Louisiana Louisiana , everything is great in Louisiana Louisiana " and such. I'm assuming he used that as a sample to this song, but its really just a metaphore for needed to get tf out of town.

Stophouse is the best! I often send a little message when I buy shit, y'know in that paragraph at the bottom of the screen, right before you press the purchase button -- I say hi or tell folks they're rad or beautiful or that I'm thinking of them and hope they're having a decent day, whatever; I just try to say something halfway positive -- And Stophouse sent me a really lovely note back with my merch. It made my day! (They also sent me a fuckton of stickers, but that's beside the point -- The note was enough and it made me happy!) 🙃

What's crazy about the Minneapolis protests/riots that year is they were peaceful with little to no property damage until a single guy spray painted an AutoZone and smashed all the windows with a hammer and walked away. Look up Minneapolis Umbrella Man. It ended up being a white guy dressed in all black with a gas mask on and I believe he was a white supremacist with prior experience on the St. Paul police force. (I could be wrong on this, but that's what headlines were saying at the time.) With so many people in the streets, it likely would have turned to riots at some point anyway, but the fact that that particular area became violent due in large part to one person who didn't seem to be there for the right reasons makes the results even more tragic.

All that stuff you said about living your life right and stop being stupid wasn't a message just for black people and as a white woman I heard your tough love toward me too. So thank you for that. And thanks for letting everyone know that we are all in this together. I appreciate you for real. Keep up the great work man. Love it!!

I respect your outlook so much. I am white but I grew up poor in the hood. As I’ve grown older, I’ve met MANY white people scared of black people. I never fully understood it until you explained your outlook in this video. It sorrows me. Some of my good friends are black and I never viewed them as scary. I have to explain to my fellow white people almost regularly that black people aren’t bad and that there is just bad people from all corners, alleys, and neighborhoods of humanity regardless of their race. This Prof song is powerful and it’s even more powerful because it brings up these types of conversations. People of any and every race need to not put their own “people” on blast the way they do and we should be lifting everybody up.

My Boi Ray! Loving the stuff your pushing out. I know you been getting into Prof this last month and I'm stoked about it. I been a huge fan of Pookie for the last 10 years and Its good that he is getting the props he deserves. Man is so talented and skilled. He really puts his heart into everything he does. To get a real good feel for the man, go listen to the podcasts he has done with honeydew and such. Dudes life was a rough one and its a blessing that he made it to where he is now. Even in his professional career with RSE (Rhyme Sayers Entertainment) he had to over come the rats and the snakes. I hope you also go back and hear some of his earlier work too. Last thing I want to leave you with is too get out to one of his live shows. The man shows TF out! Seen him almost 20 times and will continue to go to his shows. Even though im also from MN, my wife and I have travelled the country to see him play in all sorts of venues. If you jump into the Prof apperception society group on facebook your going to find one of the best communities in the world. But Ill let you get back at it brother, take care.

I'm sure you've probably have heard the Live and in Color version of this by now. But if you haven't you should check it out. The emotion in his voice and body mannerisms literally makes it felt how much this song meant for him to write and put out. Prof is deep. I've been listening to him over a decade now. If you haven't heard any of his older stuff, I highly recommend going back a decade in his catalog. And your perception of what he means by Louisiana is exactly what i thought too. I live in Alabama but i have always wanted to runaway to Montana when things are just too much. When i kinda know i can't take another hit because it's just getting to that point. So it's like if it doesn't work this last time then i gotta go because all this, just killing me and the person I supposed to be. If that's understandable. I also want to point out how many reactors that react to Prof but have not reacted to this song or haven't posted the reaction if they intended to. I love Prof and there's so many reactors that react to his music. But so many leave this one out. It's very disappointing. Just saying ✌️

13:47 - Thank you for your wisdom and perspective. I'm from Portland, OR, and during our riots the city burned for 100 nights, and it was not the people living there doing it. Strangers came in from all over and attacked everything from government buildings to businesses to even the poorest residential neighborhoods. I could see the flames from my porch. I got the fuck out as soon as I could and moved across the country, but the insanity of it left scars. Watching France on fire now, and smelling the smoke from the forest fires brought everything back. ...Until I found and listened to this song on repeat. It purged some of the poison, and now hearing you it's helping heal the wound.

100% agree that Prof is bridging the gap, but to me, that was already happening. Only to those that were paying attention, though. Too may have been blinded by false naratives from both sides. I don't care what "tribe" people pick to be a part of if, it doesn't move the entirety of humanity forward, we moving backwards. Red or Blue, if it comes down to that, we already lost!

I get teary every time I watch this vid. I feel the same about burning down family businesses…I understand the Target store and Apple Store but it pissed me off to see family businesses already hurting from Covid and then gets burnt to the ground. I do have to point out that we had people from out of state and idiots like my mom’s MAGA husband’s suburban son went down to mpls just to cause trouble and loot. I remember that summer too well. RIP George Floyd

Louisiana had some epic slave uprisings and had some particularly violent civil rights protests. Prof's mention of Louisiana could be both a foreshadowing one more shot (at peace) then it's violent uprising, or a flight after a single criminal act. Dude is usually ignorant af, but this track is as conscience as it gets.

I think we lost touch with the difference between Racist and Prejudice... Racism is a subset of prejudice I think. Neither are good unless there's a real danger, but to use prejudice to dislike or hate a group of people regardless of their race is abominable. Although, I fight internally with the police situation because I understand that not all cops are pigs, but if they are good cops but not willing to stand up to other cops who are breaking the law...are they really good cops? Just ignoring the actions of others and going about your own business is kinda feeding the fire. IMO

In case anyone else is wondering: Ira Hayes was of Indigenous American descent and was one of the six U.S. Marines who raised the American flag on Mount Suribachi during the World War Two Battle of Iwo Jima (Pacific Island Theater of WWII; GREAT book about that is "The Flag Of Our Fathers"- just FYI.)
