All of this footage was shot in Minnesota during the summer of 2020.. after George Floyd died here.. there was crazy riots and fires and looting and our state was in chaos. It was all happening right in Prof's neighborhood in Minneapolis.. he experienced it all first hand. The fires were right next to his house. It had a deep affect on him (as you can see from this song). His talent and passion are evident here... people truly underestimate him - their loss!!

I told you! My favorite Prof song. Ever. Hands down. It's why i get mad when people call Prof a parody rapper. No. Just because he's hilarious doesn't make him a one trick pony.

Prof lived on the block with that police station that was burned down. At one point, fires came so close they melted the sides of the home next door to his. He's talked about sitting out in his yard with a gun at night during the unrest and riots. So many traumatic things beyond this turmoil happened in his life and career in 2020. It's good to see him having so much success and happiness now. Prof has multiple series of live performances that are stellar (Live from Powderhorn Suites, Live from the Gallery, Live and in Color)

Music has always been the voice of the people, a way to be heard and we have some really amazing voices coming out between the talent and innovation. Music teaches and helps in so many ways. Whether its some ragey Chelsea Grin to vent some excess aggression or some nasty Ghostmane beats to vibe into or some of Profs shit that makes you unable to hold still or this... its how we cope and balance our emotions and feel connection to one another in a world intent on dividing. These hybrid mfers like Prof, Ren, Childish Gambino, they are just raising that bar, people will catch on. Artists like this are going to help change things, I hope. Music has legit saved me, informed me, shaped me. I love the way you love it ❤️🔥

I've only watched the LIVE version of this and simply didn't understand it was meant to the death of George Floyd. With Prof's history of speaking and singing on his family history I assumed it was a story of how he imagined his family escaping SOMEWHERE, ANYWHERE even as far south as Louisianna...to get away from his father's abuse. Now watching this reaction I see where its coming from. BTW you don't carry the accent of folks from "down south". We don't know...WHAT WE DON'T KNOW. ✌
@TheBlackSpeed4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was pretty entrenched in all that while it was going on so I understood it immediately. But it makes sense. And haha, no I don't. No one has ever thought I was from Mississippi as I don't carry an accent AT ALL. But tis my home!

Can you explain it a bit 4 the Brits here? Why is he off to Louisiana ... specifically? As I reckon it as one of the most racist parts of the States. What am I missing?! Thx!
@TheBlackSpeed4 ай бұрын
I'll be honest and say I don't know why he picked Louisiana specifically, but it may just have to do with the fact that he's tired of being in Minnesota, where these things are actively happening, and would rather flee as far away as possible and join in on the fight elsewhere and fight fire with fire, so-to-speak. Someone else may come in and read this and correct me, but that was at least my take on it. Being fed up with where he's at and wanting to go far away to fight and have it be all-or-nothing (hence him saying it'll be a one-way flight).

This video is the best way to show what the people of Minneapolis and Saint Paul went through that summer. Nothing else even comes close and that's a damn shame. All that footage triggers me every time and takes me back to the terror and anger we all experienced. Sorry bro but I think that it has nothing really to do with the people of Louisiana. I'm not sure how that connection was made. If anything Louisiana would be some sort of refuge or safe place to end up.
@TheBlackSpeed3 ай бұрын
I reacted to this song after first blindly hearing it. Immediately after giving it a second list, as I put in a separate comment, I'm of the understanding it's definitely a place he sought out to 'run', give up, and leave his roots in Minnesota and go to Louisiana. Hindsight is always 20/20. But regardless of that I already know that, I don't think it's a far-fetched thing to think a connection could be made to Louisiana considering it's the name of the song, protests also happened all up and down New Orleans and someone may want to join the fight there where Marshall Law has already happened several times in just a few years, and there is more lawlessness from a legal perspective in Louisiana than Minnesota. Just extending different angles to a powerful song, that's all.
