Fiyah reaction 🔥 a little back story to the song, Longchain concept: When the slaves leapt into the water, their life on earth expired and they started a new life under water. Some of the them ventured back to Africa while others helped to sink the slaveships. "Those who wouldn't become slaves instead became waves" In the second verse he personifies nature to ask them how could they let something so inhumane happen in the world, and then goes on to name some of the slave ships in the 3rd verse. I didn't explain it in as much detail as possible but jus know that Lupe is a genius 🧠

Lupe's line about "Black baby alligator baiters" is a reference to Louisiana slave holders using Black babies to bait alligators out of the water so they could hunt the gators for food. Whether or not that's true, that is the horror story behind that.

The funny thing about Lupe is that his most popular songs are actually weak in comparison to his mixtape stuff. That's why you won't get requests for "Kick Push" or "Superstar" but tracks like Twilight Zone, Lupe the Killa, Emperor's Soundtrack, Yoga Flame , Lamborghini Angel and Around my Way are fan favourites. Even when he on trap beats on Next To It, Snitches 2 and Deliver, my mans still kills it.
