He was really young here, he was refining his style. He said once that he always suffered from stage fright till the end. There is actually a video of "Elvis Presley Nervous Back Stage". He never thought he would last, and never thought his voice was good. He never listened to his own music, or saw his movies or praised himself. He often was sick but performed anyway. He always complimented other performers. Every time a new performer came to Vegas, he asked to meet them. Tom Jones had been in the business for only a year, and that was in Whales England. When Tom opened in Vegas, Elvis asked to meet him and suggested for him to come to his studio Tom could not believe that his idol even knew his name. They became dear friends, as did Elvis and James Brown, Elvis and Fats Domino, Chuck Berry,, and Little Richard. He never thought he was better than anyone. Most mean things you hear about him were lies made up by jealous men. Truth. Stay Cool Ray, as always a great job.

I was six the day Elvis died. I told my Granny she was lying. He died on my little brother's first birthday. My husband of 30yrs has gotten used to me saying that I would do him in a heart beat. LOL! I remember watching him live from Hawaii and I was only two at the time. I've always loved Elvis but when we actually went to Graceland, I was more in love with the man!

6:15 Since you were talking about his cadence, it reminds me that one of the things I used to be fascinated with well and still am with the early Elvis stuff is how incredible he was at taking a normal phrase and making it highly rhythmic and fun at the same time. He just sang "Baby if I made you mad" and it came out like "huh-baby if ah made-uh-you mad-uh" ... He does that kind of thing all the time and it's just amazing.

BRO, I shared some background information about ELVIS and his earliest days trying to make a name for himself in the music industry. I refer you to your last reaction "Hound Dog". When I was attending University, I wrote a research paper on ELVIS. It still confounds me that his early appearance on Nashville's premier live radio show, "The Grand Ole Opry" was so dismissive of his talent. Although they had been also wrong about the legendary singer and songwriter Hank Williams, and his buckets of talent. Nevertheless for so many up and coming country stars, "The Opry" would be their key to their success, and would make several appearances back home on the live Opry stage.

I believe the Grand Old Opry was an established “country” club that feared a challenge to traditional country music. They were the power brokers. Crazy is that Elvis was also an incredible country singer.

And to stick to your regular job (of truck driving). Maybe because he did step over the "traditional" bluegrass line by incorporating his own innovative style of music. ELVIS was heartbroken at this dismissal, and anyone but him would have laid his music to rest. It wasn't long after, though, he reaped his deserved rewards after performing on the Lousiaan Hayride. "Elvis Country" is my overall favourite album/CD. I'm a vocalist, and yet I have never heard anyone sing so effortlessly and beautifully. THANK YOU for your comment, music is a vehicle that can transform your whole day into something special!
