Tarja Turunen is a classically trained singer who can do both opera and rock. Marco (the bearded guy) is a legend of Finnish metal who already had a long career with his band Tarot before he joined Nightwish. Nightwish the band is the brainchild of the keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen who does look a lot like Jack Sparrow. This is from the concert 'End of an Era' (2005), which was the culmination of a magical period when these three musicians were all cooperating with each other. There is a lot more great stuff from all of them that is worth exploring.

Hello VIBE REACTIONS ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Helsinki in 2005, then together with Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tar-rya], the 1st female singer of the band, and Marco Hietala, bassist and singer. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals) - you just heard her. She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile). There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Thank you! This is my favourite verision of Phantom of the Opera😁 Tarja is amazing. So is Marko.... and the whole band🥰 Marko and Tarja are no longer in the band. Marko left few years ago. This concert here, End of an Era, was Tarja's last one with Nightwish (hence the name of the concert). Tarja was fired after this concert (She didn’t know that during the concert). Don't ask why, no one really knows... except for the ones who were at the band that time. Luckily for us Nightwish nor Tarja didn't stop making music after the split. Nightwish had another singer, Anette Olzon. Then they had some problems with her and they had another singer, the current singer, Floor Jansen. Tarja started her own solo career, and she has been touring successfully around the world for about 18 years after the split with Nightwish. All the members are now happy. What comes to Marko (the male singer here and the bassist) and Tarja's relationships, they were friends back then. Their friendship died when Tarja was fired (it probably died already before that). In 2017 Marko apologised from Tarja and they fixed their relationship. Now they are friends again and they will be touring together next year.😁

This was in Helsinki, Finland. 2005. I was 18 then, just graduated high school & I was there as a graduation gift for October!!! I'm 37 now. Beautiful venue. Beautiful country!!! It was the last time we heard the Siren, the Viking, the Pirate, the Vampire & the Zombie all perform together!!! Thank you for sporting this reaction vid!!! Cheers from Portland, OR!!!

I believe Phantom has stopped touring (it began in '85 or so). The last singer to play Christine on Broadway was Sierra Boggess, who famously elevated and reinvented the character, However it's worth mentioning that Andrew Lloyd Webber himself said Nightwish's Phantom was his favorite offstage version.

By happy coincidence someone bought me the Blu-ray version of this 2005 concert for Christmas. Whole show is top rank, with my favourite tracks being PHANTOM, WISHMASTER and HIGH HOPES. An excellent band with a long and colourful history - they are still producing new music and filling large arenas to this day. Enjoy! 🇬🇧🤘🤘

I’m happy to see you do this reaction and I do hope that you continue to explore Nightwish and the genius of Tuomas’s songwriting and the whole bands excellence. All three lead singers are great and each has brought their own flavor to the music. I had the good luck to see them live three times in 2023, the last shows of that tour. They are now on a hiatus but they have said that they’ll be back. I see that you already have got a lot of suggestions and I look forward to see anything you decide to react to.

This one You cant see live anymore. Its from 2005 and they sacked the femail singer Tarja after this concert. Marko, the male has quit to so the band lives on even today but only two of the og members are still with the band. Tarja has a solocareer with a whole lot of epic stuff on her list but if I would point out just one that highlights her work it would be her cover of Supremacy by Muse, live from Milano or Woodstock festival. That lady has some pipes and so does the current singer of NW. Worth checing out to but dont forget Tarja, the reason to why NW didnt play acustic folkrock instead of metall.😊

I got to them live...That goal might be hard to achieve. These two singers are no longer with the band. Tarja and Marko meet up while touring very rarely ..so it is not completely impossible.

Tarja is a full on trained soprano opera singer whilst Marco is belting (rock and roll style singing) he's had some formal classical singing too but not near to the degree Tarja has. And yes their voices and style complement each other perfectly. It'd have been good if there was a second female singer who could belt as a foil and blend to Tarja that would have been perfection. As they could focus on their strengths. Floor is also a great singer and more flexible in style to Tarja but even though her classical voice is very good indeed it doesn't match Tarja's objectively or in that special something for which no word suffices.

Marco and Tarja were not a couple or in any way romantically linked (she's wearing her engagement and wedding rings). They're just two talented artists. Sadly the audience and Tarja were not aware that this would be her last concert as the band including Marco had decided to sack her. This they did about two weeks later with an open letter. All very strange, sad, heartbreaking, and childish. Happily Tarja has forged her own career since then and recently she and Marco have collaborated musically together. If only things had been sorted out like adults the band could have continued like it was with maybe Tarja moving onto other things amicably or continuing the Nightwish magic.

It's always a pleasure to see someone discover Nightwish. You have barely scratched the surface of this band, whose every song is different, and there isn't a bad song in the bunch. This is a band of extremely talented musicians who all play for the song. Since you seem to know, and like metal, I would suggest that your next reaction be to "Romanticide" from the Wacken 2013 live concert. The version marked "correct speed" is the one to use since there is an audio problem with the "official" version.

The backstory between the two singers is: female singer Tarja Turunen is fired right after this concert. At this concert in 2005 one should not confuse politeness with sympathy. Tarja and the Finnish band had grown apart privately and artistically. After the commercial breakthrough, they had different plans for the future. the next song you should watch is GHOST LOVE SCORE from wacken in 2013. 84.000 in the crowd. the new lead singer is the best in the world right now. she will show you 5 styles of singing and the nightwish army will descend on you. they are great people and you will welcome them as they welcome you to the army. GLS is the most reacted to on you tube. for good reason. after that you can play that whole concert you will then be familiar with them. do not play POET AND THE PENDULUM OR GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH until know the band and please, please research them before reacting to them.and show the lyrics on those two. if Gabriel shows up he will inform and direct you down a good path. he is the general of the army. the new singer's name is floor, which is dutch for flower. so when you get goosebumps etc. you are having floorgasms.. this is the tightest band you will ever hear.
