MELANIE SAFKA live at Montreux 1971

Happy Birthday Melanie this 3rd February - we share the same day & month, but not the year!
When I was a young man growing up in England there was a series of "In Concert" TV programmes broadcast with singer / songwriters of the day including Neil Young, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell and of course Melanie Safka from 1971. I posted the Melanie gig some years back as "Melanie 26 minutes of bliss" and it started with 'Close To It All' and this was really my first introduction to Melanie.
Over the intervening years I've built up a substantial audio visual archive and posted almost everything I've got up to now, so it's rather apt that its recently come full circle with another version of 'Close To It All' coming into my possession recently, this one from Montreux instead of London.
There was a live audio CD of the concert, but this cut didn't make it, so I feel its rather special to have found it and post it. It would be wonderful to see the video recording of the full gig if it ever surfaces.
I suspect I may not post any more Melanie related videos in future unless something extra special like this comes my way so it feels right for me to sign off with this one. Thanks Melanie, your music has helped me 'get close to it all'.

I agree! I hope soon more and more will come across her and her music. And I also hope to see a movie about her and most of all, her induction to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. She certainly deserves to be there.
