Vic Damone, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Englebert Humperdink and Perry Como. All did awesome renditions of this epic, wonderful love song. All their versions are top shelf, and each a little different than the others, in their own style. But for me, Vic Damone's version best captures the love and heartache from this outstanding movie, "The Sandpiper".

I love this song its so beautifully done with such grace. Dick & Liz truly had such passion for life. Although, they like us they had human frailties...but Dick wrote Liz everyday and she loved him so much she took the letters to her grave. They truly had undying love, but when you love someone you really never forget them you just hide them away in your heart. Beautiful movie as well greatest actors on film.

Thank you for posting this beautiful montage of both The Sandpiper and it's award winning theme song; The Shadow of Your Smile. The movie was memorable not for the acting of its principal stars, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor but for capturing their incredible screen presence with the backdrop of Big Sur Califonia. Your posting reminds those of us who grew up during the bygone golden age of Hollywood how fortunate we were in having experinced such a period. With the advances and ubiquity of digital technology, it is a pleasure to remember and briefly experince a analog world.
