yeah had a LOT of fun on this trip, helped knowing I had 2 experienced drivers with me with winches on both vehicles. Bit more willing to have a go then. Given it's essentially stock, very happy with how it performed.

Always good to have another car with you. I drove my 76 around the vhc stock standard on couple trips before I built it . So I understand !😊

That brings back memories. There's a paper map called "Victorias Deserts Touring guide which we got from a map place in Melbourne which is excellent. We saw a complete plastic undertray from a Cruiser or something leaning up against tree when we went through when we tackled the bog holes. I probably wouldn't go out that way again if it had been raining a bit tbh. Should be able to turn left before Red Bluffs and get onto the Murrayville Bordertown rd if memory serves. Mind you that road would be impassable in the wet as well. We were staying at Red Bluffs and decided to go into Bordertown for fuel and supplies and decided, wisely, not to come back in that way. Had to do a big loop to get back to the campground in the dark which was another story. I've never seen so many big dirt roads just end and not go through. Have to wonder how all of that mud will affect the cooling of various components once back on the open road again as well.

Thanks mate for watching. Fortunately no over heating issues on that trip all the way home which was a good 600km or so on the bitumen. Just finished another trip in the same area, much dryer, chalk and cheese with track conditions.

@@OffTheBeatenPathAus It's on the corner of the Murrayville Bordertown Rd just as you come into Murrayville from the Victorian side. Hopefully they're still there. Forestry Victoria has put in another campground at Berrook like Big Billy Bore. Not sure if you've mentioned it as I only saw this installment of the trip.

Talking about your suspension towards the start there mate, All vehicles are set up and drive differently. You would be used to driving the Paj and it may take a little time to get used to the Toyota.

Yeah it's very different, solid axles and leafs on the rear, the back end bounces a lot more. Might stop when I get some weight in it.

@@OffTheBeatenPathAus Yeah maybe mate, My old Hilux drove much nicer and smoother with weight in the back. It might also take some time to adjust your driving style simply being used to the Paj, although you have had the 76 for a while now.

yeah some weight in the back I think will help. Did some high country work late yesterday and 1st gear low range was too low coming down, back wheels were just skidding.
