Also, I seem to remember that at one point Britain would turn EIC into British Raj either after the rebellion or when Britain reaches level 5 Colonial Institution. I don't know if that is still the case, but I kinda remember that happening to me once.

@@ardenwarwick1087 unless it's changed since the GB run that I did right before the update came out the requirements are: EITHER the EIC fails their journal event OR GB has lvl 5 colonial, it's only effects are the name change, setting them to puppet for free, and switching them to another bureaucrat law, all of which is very easily accomplished far earlier than either of the prereqs

in 1858 the East india company was effectively dissolved when the british crown found out how badly run india was after a number of massacres during riots. In the aftermath, in order to re-establish order and quell unrest, the crown took direct control and established the british raj. So yes the independance desire is probably what triggered it here.

I managed to complete that mission when the game came out, with a few tries. What worked was that I had to change a bunch of laws and that pissed off the landowners. They rose up civil war style but GB came in and pounded them for me. After that I had no trouble from landowners when it came to passing laws.

19:45 As Qing or India or even Japan in some cases is that you basically just ignore the fact that you still 30 billion peasants everywhere and the only welfare you do get is Old Age Pensions for the -5% workforce ratio and try to avoid giving women rights as you want to keep the workforce ratio low so the population growth doesn't sweep you away, but fundamentally, industrializing as India or China will quite literally drain the world of resources long before you've industrialized much of the country.

they actually do! they start as "hindustan", a very small city with the empire government rank. they even have an achievement "Azadi: As the Mughal Empire, complete the Prisoner of the Red Fort journal entry, expel the British, and bring all of India under your control."
