Another reminder that Laurence's theme is amazing, but it's inaudible over the LOUD SCREECHING DEER MONSTERS I really appreciate the increased music volume, thank you. Edit: I wish there was a sound option that specifically lowered the vocal sounds from enemies (ie screaming beasts). The weapon attack sounds are really satisfying, and it's a shame to lose all of the ambience just to hear music a bit better.

Yep, now it makes me wonder if this makes any sense lorewise. Because on one hand you could argue that Laurence was more powerful than Amelia to begin with, or had access to more powerful less diluted blood or whatnot. But on the other, there is a clear relationship between strength and size and we know that one of the reasons hunters use big ass weapons is because they needed to deal with bigger more powerful beasts, and we even know the church knew it, so it seems like monsters have gotten stronger over time, yet Amelia is weaker than Laurence ? ‘S weird :|

I think that's the biggest challenge of fighting Amelia. She's so big in a room that's comparatively much smaller than what you might expect for a beast of that size (especially in terms of width of the room) which makes it real hard to maneuver around her sometimes and accidentally cause you to get crushed if leaps backwards

@@nathanjora7627 i think it makes most sense that Laurence's background in the arcane at byrgenwerth and access to older or more pure blood could be what allowed his beast form to manifest with so much fire when that is usually the bane of beasts, and that, as supported by the fight itself, its his fire that allows him to easily dispatch a much larger beast even if he may be "weaker" in terms of strength or size. he's basically the 99 arcane build for beasts.

Crazy how you had to multiply Vicar Amelia's health that much, giving her about 2.5 times what Laurence had, and yet she STILL didn't stand a chance against him, not even getting him to his last stage. Guess it goes to show, no one could live up to Laurence's legacy.

It's more like Amelia is a early game boss compared to Laurence being a end game one. Laurence has all the advantages over Amelia here: Bigger output of damage, Fire on all attacks, and the Cleric Beast's very aggressive nature. If Laurence went into his 2nd phase, Amelia would be a goner with being damaged by constant lava and Laurence ups the aggressiveness. Amelia needed more than a Health buff, she needed the NG+ treatment to balance out the fight. If my speculation is correct, this is NG1 or not a NG acc, so it doesn't balances the bosses health and damage.

Amelia has arguably my favorite design from the whole game, I just love this boss (like many others!). A bit of a shame that she got beaten so easily. I found this fight both "grandiose" and sad. It has its effect, to see these two vicars changed into both hideous but elegant monsters fighting like that, but it also reminds how tragic the fate of the two is, one like the other. Too bad Amelia isn't more developed, and doesn't have arcane attacks, or whatever. But OK ! Thank you for this fight, it was very cool! I would like to see Mergo's wet nurse, against Laurence or Ebrietas. Or just Amelia against a cleric beast.

this is why i don't get people think the orphan or cursed dungeon bosses are the hardest, for me the title unquestionably goes to Laurence. Consider Vicar Amelia has extremely high physical damage especially for a mid game boss, and she could only get to half of Laurence's health bar. Laurence has high physical plus fire to go through your defense if your fire sucks so getting hit by him is almost always a 2 shot on basic attacks. You're spending a ton of time whittling away that HP with very small windows as he does high combos and AOE's you MUST avoid, and then a perilous final phase where getting backed up the wrong way means death as you run into the firey blood and no where to go, the narrow arena makes it even harder.

Just a suggestion, but perhaps consider using the NG+ (or higher) versions of bosses as your baseline. They're generally much more comparable in stats so you don't have to make extreme adjustments like giving Amelia 10x health, though some bosses (including Laurence) scale like crazy so adjustments would still be necessary.
