Death by a thousand paper cuts is the perfect way to answer “Who killed WCW?” I hope people remember it. It’s also fascinating seeing the idea of The Millionaire’s Club vs. The New Blood storyline, considering TNA would do a version of this with the Main Event Mafia vs. The TNA Front Line in 2008-2009

People like to talk mindlessly about the topic, but this right here. Not much of a discussion in hindsight.

Eric Bischoff putting over Hulk Hogan and his friends over far too long, Hulk Hogan's creative control, and that creative control that essentially help out Hulk Hogan's friends, and Eric Bischoff letting certain talent run WCW, Ted Turner naively merging Turner Sports with AOL and Time Warner, which the excutives at AOL Time Warner pushing Ted Turner out the door, and those executives really not wanting Pro Wrestling on their network, and waiting for the opportunity to sell WCW did far far far more damage to WCW than what Vince Russo did to WCW. WCW needed two people to oversee Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo and Kevin Sullivan, which would have been Ole Anderson, Greg Gagne and Thunderbolt Patterson.

Eric Bischoff, Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall ("The Band") = they all made their way down to Nashville, TN (a soundstage on Universal Studios Florida): TNA (Impact Wrestling / total nonstop action), working for Dixie Carter; the late Jerry and Jeff Jarrett's company; I watched those shows on Spike TV (the old TNN network ("the Redneck network"): who used to show "ECW (on TNN aka ECW's Hardcore TV)" on their Friday Night Thrill Zone = either before or after "Roller Jam" and the WWF's "Monday Night RAW" tv series.

No that I think about it the moment I started primarily watching wwf was when Stone cold was jawing with Tyson , after that Wcw brought in Leno,Rodman, Malone, to cimpete but it was cool when hogan showed up on the tonight show

I was literally yelling at my TV at the end of every one of these Russo written WCW shows, "Who the f*** is writing this s***!" I mean of course I knew it was Vince but this writing was just bad.

Lol. Come on Geekdom. What Booker T said wasn’t surprising. Ron Simmons was the champion LONG ago and that’s only because it was pointed out that the black wrestlers never got the title so they made him the champion for a few months out of pity. Don’t be naive.

I will always like what he did for Booker T but if he doesn’t have someone filter his concepts and ideas than Russo is a flop and honestly I’ll give him credit for trying to elevate the young guys and the older guys like Hogan holding them down

I hated bloodbaths. Hated em. That’s a total Russo thing. Hated em in WWF.. hated em in WCW.. The New Blood thing? I thought the New Blood were the heels! The Millionaires club had Sting!! You can’t turn him heel!

My complain so far is that I thought that the idea of this documentary was going deeper in what caused the decision to sell WCW in Turner after the merger with AOL. So far the documentary has been stuff that has been said over and over. Nothing really new, it's a mixture of the WWE narrative of what killed WCW and what Bischoff, Russo and others have said for years in their podcast.

I remember watching WCW quite a bit as a kid. It's a shame that it died. This has been an interesting docuseries though. Thanks for the review man!

AOL/Time Warner executives like Jamie Kellner hated the product; Kellner thought it was "low brow" entertainment; he didn't want it on either W-TBS (the Superstation) or on TNT; but uh, Ted Turner loved Pro Wrestling/Wrasslin'. the Monday Night Wars of the 1990's: WCW/NWA (nWo) (Eric Bischoff (a former AWA guy, just like "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall or "the Macho Man" Randy Savage: Verne Gagne's company), Bill Busch, an ex-WCW booker Kevin Sullivan) vs. WWE/WWF (Vince K. McMahon, Jr.) and of course, ECW (Paul E. Dangerously/Paul Heyman). "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash sitting at home, just collecting a paycheck. Earler, Kevin had two personas in WCW: Oz and Vinnie Vegas, before going to the WWF and transforming into "Big Daddy Cool," Diesel; he was "Chet Lemon," a commenator with Booker T (as Black Snow) in TNA.

Let's be real, V.Russo is literally acting like he didn't do ANYTHING WRONG. He's thinks he's the main character who doesn't make mistakes. That's Narcissistic symptoms. That attitude kills any business. Im not saying it all Russo's doing. He's about 55% of the fire that burned the WCW house. If majority of people INSIDE and Outside the business are saying same things about Vince Russo (and nobody's saying much good) It is what it is.

As I was watching it I’m like damn u still feel the same way u did 20 years ago? U haven’t changed but I still don’t hate Russo because he meant well in the beginning. But u right that mindset can destroy a company hater than you can say Tony khan and his “sickos” killing aew

I have read about those 1990's videotape traders, in PWI ("Pro Wrestling Illustrated") magazine, with broadcast journalists like Bill Apter or Mike Johnson ("PW Insider"); maybe Dave Meltzer & Byran Alvarez (Wrestling Observer Newsletter); Wade Keller (Pro Wrestling Torch). I notice that the IWC would compare WCW (under Eric Bischoff's reign), TNA Impact Wrestling (Dixie Carter's era), Mr. Electricity, Herb Abrams (UWF: "Cowboy" Bill Watts had a company with the same name) to AEW. Tony Khan: didn't sell that neck injury, at the NFL draft, unlike (Andy) Kaufman in a feud against a Memphis (Mid-South/USWA) territory king (Jerry Lawler). from a blog that I've read... "Cowboy" Bill Watts was seen to be racist (against Heyman) and sexist (against Medusa Micelli). On a classic WCW Monday Nitro episode, Micelli infamously threw a WWF women's world title belt, into a trash can; at the commentator's booth, with Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Eric Bischoff and Bobby "The Brain/Weasel" Heenan.
