The Rise of France’s Far-Right Youth | Decade of Hate

How did Generation Identity go from being the most high-profile and influential far-right groups in Europe, to being de-platformed and banned in their country of origin?
Repackaging classic far-right ideas for millennials, Generation Identity consciously eschewed the stereotypical far-right aesthetics and language - binning the bomber jackets and talking about culture instead of race, in an effort to seem more respectable and appealing to potential recruits and the media.
In March 2021, after nine years of controversial and confrontational activism, the French government finally banned the group, whose tactics and ideology was able to spread across Europe and to the US.
How effective will a ban be? Only time will tell. But undoubtedly, Europe’s most influential and high-profile far-right street movement is on a downward spiral.

So long as different perspectives don't seriously harm others. But I don't see why Europeans can't strive to maintain their sense of their identity. At my school, we had DOZENS of different culture clubs. But we had no European culture clubs. We used to have a Scandinavian club, a French club... but years ago, student protests coerced the U administration to get rid of European clubs specifically. Imagine being told you have no right to congregate with other people who share your language and ancestral history simply because you're European. I don't condone racism. But when I, an American, travel to another country for work... I do my best to adapt to my hosts' norms. I'm a guest. So I understand people whose families lived somewhere for centuries feeling uncomfortable about being expected to accommodate others' ideologies. Respect and hospitality have to be a two-way street.

Multiculturalism does not work in Europe, since there is a strong European identity, based on principles of Enlightenment and Humanity. So if those one that arrive struggle with these basic principles and do not want to integrate, than they create perfect conditions for far-Right parties to gain ground. And that is coming from the first-generation immigrant (i.e me). I came to live in Europe and embraced everything.

However, before the 1970s Canada was primarly made up of European immigrants (and as you know the European culture is very similar and practically related, so the "diversity" was seen very differently at the time) with the odd Japanese living in BC who came from Japan. Diversity is great and beautiful, however there are consequences when you mix many very different cultures and it then effects things like the nations society, traditions, patriotism, and respect for history. People simply don't want to see their country that has been the same for so many years turn into another country (and we are starting to see that in many places like Canada, the USA, England, France, Australia, Taiwan and others). Japan is a great example for having such a strong and stable society and economy while having almost 0 immigration. Point being, decrease immigration rates (and I've made my point for why), and those who come overseas ought to respect and charish their new country.

I’m not white and I agree with them: Islamic and Western values are incompatable, and that causes a problem. Take the UK: Indians (Hindus), East Asians (Buddhists, atheists) all integrate fine.. they assimilate into British culture/values while only some Muslims (mostly those who reject Islam, or are non practicing/secular) integrate. Many (be it 5% or 50) just don’t - and this is a fact. Now add in the high fertility of Muslims (more than 1 child on average than non Muslims in Europe) and immigration, this causes concern. This isn’t anti Muslim, many especially the secular and liberal people are the same as any (the true enemy is Islamists); this is just self preservation and common sense. If France wants more migrants, should get some non Muslims to balance it out (eg Indians, Chinese, Poles, etc). Or alternatively, raise birth rates of native French citizens.

No it is generally a good thing, however you have to admit that a lot of people are taking it too far on both sides. When you start infringing on people's freedom to buy or produce halal food for example, that is bigoted because you are suddenly discriminating every Muslim, even though many if not most behave like regular people.
