Tim McDonald is one of the world’s best at the sport of spearfishing. Like other Australian spearfishermen, he free dives and uses his speargun to target fish while holding his breath without the help of any scuba diving gear. During his years of spearfishing, Tim has had run-ins with great white sharks, bull sharks, marlin, wahoo, whales, and more. This time, Tim is traveling from Brisbane to a remote island near Queensland in search of Spanish mackerel, known for its large size, pretty physique, and for its delicious meat. Tim and his friend Josh take us on their day-long adventure throughout a remote area of Australia to find and capture the elusive fish they crave. By the end, it’s time for them to eat sushi, sashimi, and grilled fish before heading back to Brisbane.

I am glad that he mentioned the part of leaving it exactly how they found it. I cannot stress this enough to people that want to go out and enjoy nature. Do it for the wild life, do it for the people that will come after you.

I use to live in Florida and would catch Spanish Macs, they are a great tasting fish and really fun to catch. Make sure you use wire leader though, they have some crazy wicked teeth. On an other subject, I respect your beliefs as a religious man. I am buddhist, but I believe we should respect one another in that sense and never ridicule any religion as long as it's not harming anyone for forced on anyone. World Peace

They killed several very large fish, far more than they could eat between them in the time they were away. I'm just wondering, did they refrigerate the meat and take home or discard once killed for sport??

The big coolers, hold ice for like 2-6 days depending on cooler quality. Tom is a Pro and known in the sport. the fish will last 4-6 days untill frozen back at home. It is gutted on spot and bled out in the water.

Its "Sport". And no, a fish they was in ice for 5-6 days dont taste like a fresh fish. And many fish where killed while its their record, not while they taste good. And i often see that they shoot at every fish, it is to big and they lose him they shit in this. How i was, they record count and rarely arts where shoot too. Im fishing with a rod, the fish had the choice to eat the bait or Not and rare or the most fish where realesed. But one or two snapper for sashimi in board are very tasty. Wayne, when you dont break the law is it allowed.

No one in Australia hunts for sport, always eat what we kill or give it away to friends and family.

@@ghhhjj5160 fish could definitely stay fresh for 2-3 days if stored properly on ice and bled. And they don't shoot at anything
