@@ViceGripGarage Definitely more of these videos! Maybe VGGRebuilds channel if it doesn't fit the motif of the main channel? Seriously, before KZbin you had to watch what a director and editor crafted, skipping half the most important details and nuance of tearing something apart...and the fun of it, like opening a dirty present. This video is so straightforward and interesting. I would ask for more closeups, like when you first started working on those lifters -- I really wanted to see what you were doing. Obviously it's just you, but it makes for compelling content. Is it possible to find a new block and re-use these parts? That would tie episodes together with a theme and keep us couch mechanics coming back for more...

As a retired mechanic this video really brought me back- I have been involved in countless 350 rebuilds for cam failure, and one theory that was going around at the time is that the loose timing chain is what causes the cam to wear, allowing it to snap back and forth instead or rotating smoothly. Someone else might have already commented on this, but honestly there are too many comments to plow through! Anyway, enjoyed the video.

Great content Derrick!!!! It brought back memories watching you tear down this old engine and carefully inspecting every aspect of the parts as you took them off. I haven't disassembled and built an old tired engine in quite a few years now. I was hoping that the engine was a good candidate for a good rebuild as I looked forward to watching you go back with it from the ground up and you adding the VGG touches to it. 😆 Keep doing what you do and by all means, post a video of a shade tree build. 👍 Spider

Thanks for a great video, really enjoyed seeing the process, it’s amazing you share your decades of experience with all the regular folks. I wish I’d have seen something like this a younger fella, but better late than never! 👍

Don't know how you find the time to do all the things you do on this channel! Great episode. Great information of what to look for. Would love to see a budget rebuild video as well. Can't go wrong with Chevy Orange. Looks like a feller has a good collection of go handle accessories! Great job Derek!

Great. Best rebuild lesson I've seen. I'm a hatched and saw back yard guy with engine hung from oak tree. I've done some rebuilds and was never sure what and why to replace. Thank you.

Derek, that was just awesome man, great information for sure, great commentary and visuals as well. It really is awesome that we have people like yourself prepared to post videos like this that help guide us lesser informed people. Thanks very much mate

Once again thank you for teaching so many of us! I, as well as many I'm certain, would absolutely love to see a budget build!

Would love to see part two. I have never rebuilt an engine but you make it look less daunting. Love the channel...Howard From Toronto Canada

Absolutely, do please consider the budget rebuild of another small block (perhaps a Ford to show the differences?) for all us newbies out there. I tune into your show for the knowledge but your sense of humor is what keeps me coming back again and again.

What a nice change to get back to some base level engine work. By all means show us a budget 350 build. I really enjoyed the 307 build you did. Thought you were gonna mention that project when you and Dulcich were taking about a viewers 283 in the recent interview.
