A couple years ago while driving anhydrous ammonia in my big rig, at night, on my regular run through Texas, I found vice grip garage. My dad was a gear head but a bad alcoholic. The 36 Chevy sat in the garage through my entire childhood and we never built it, so I never learned how to do it with my dad. So on that night drive I watched one of your earlier videos, and then one after another. You brought that childhood fascination and love of cars back to life for me. I've learned a lot from you. Thanks for giving me the gift my dad couldn't. Merry Christmas to you and your Derek

@@cerealkiller1638 No, I asked my dad about it last year just before he passed and he said he sold it when our parents divorced. Shame. My older brother is a killer mechanic though and he lives pretty close to us here in Texas. I'm going to ask him to help me with my first build. He just finished a 68 camero that came out amazing. Us siblings are all getting close again after a lot of years of life drifting us apart. My brother and I both own trucks, so it's been time consuming for the last 10 years. Realizing how much I love cars was really a revelation for me. I spent the last few decades doing music so seeing Derek really reignited the old spark. Thanks for asking, and Merry Christmas to you and your family

Hi Derek. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I'm the guy in the blue Chevelle that you raced at the end. Sorry to hear about Road Worthy Rescues and all of the other Motor Trend shows. I look forward to many more VGG videos. Don't worry, I'm taking good care of your helmet. lol

It's getting harder and harder for any of these types of shows to survive on classic cable. First off who seriously still watches cable except for your grandma? I cut the cable over a decade ago and pretty much only watch KZbin or Prime anymore. I would actually prefer to see this era bow out with style before funding gets even worse and the content suffers. Like me Derek was just born a decade too late to catch the golden age of cable, but his sub counts show it's not for a lack of quality content. We'll still be here Derek while actively LOOKING for your content instead of something I skipped across while channel surfing. Much love to you, Jessica, and the kids and looking forward to another great year of entertainment, laughs, and maybe a little accidental edumacation.
