Back when I was 10 years old my Dad bought a brand new El Tigre' and man o man was he the cock of the block! I remember us driving it to the grocery store shortly after he got it because we got snowed in, but anyway we came out of the store and there was a crowd of people around his machine (small town farmers get excited about the little things) all I remember thinking was how awesome it was to have the big dawg draw at the grocery store. The old man fired her up and everyone standing around got all excited and my Dad didn't disappoint the old boys. He told me to hang on tight and he tore out of there snow flying in all directions and I'm pretty sure I still had a grin on my face when I went to bed that night. So, my vote is to definitely have a follow up with the old girl. I'd love to see her purring again!

They were very popular up here in Canada but many did forget they were ‘fa’s’ aka free air which meant you don’t run them slow or lugging..they are meant to be out on the lake and a couple of ticks from take-off. Run Em slow and kill em dead. Guys often used a cooler plug and/or richer fuel which of course ultimately ended in a foiled plug and often dead coils. It’s a whole chain type thing what goes wrong. Keep an eye on those temp gauges. 😉 purrrr kitty purrrr. We had a panther, a cheetah and finally a Tigre` then many other brands...winter loooong in Canada.

yes, get the el tigre running. spent lots of time wrenching on old sleds like that in late teens/early 20's. We'd open bottom door on wood stove to get it cooking in shop at farm so we could work on it, why keeping the milwakee best cold. Group had an el tigre, several skidoos, a yamahammer, and a polaris or 2. Thanks for sharing this, brings back some good old memories

@Vice Grip Garage The Arctic Cat is a 1976 model. Any Arctic Cat key from that era will work in the key switch. The brake disc being loose like it is on the jack shaft is pretty normal. I'd do a compression test before you go buying any parts.

El tigre is a 76 made in late 75. The 75 year model had the kawasaki engine quad plug heads. Also the decals on it are for 76 model year.

I think that the best and fastest el tigger was around 73 or 75 not sure of the year ? but anyhoo it had a Kawasaki motor with 4 firing plugs. it had the 440 stickers down the hood and one headlight pokin out of the grill.. i had one and it would ripp !!! love the shows thanks for the fun and most of all the knowledge ..
