This really blew my mind because I always look at it like it's a movie but it's not, if someone gets hurt no one calls cut, the dead will not get up after the scene because they are *really* dead. I can't believe what it must feel like to stand there with a sniper somewhere not knowing if your next breath will be your last.
@ArcherAC39 жыл бұрын
Luke Lemmons Exactly, I kinda get angry with myself because when I started watching this Dispatch playlist I was getting excited, all the protests, wondering what crazy thing would happen next. Then when I just stopped for a while and noticed this is real life, that it's really happening there, it feels awkward.

It makes me angry and sad knowing that there are people who Meme wars such as the Bosnian War in witch hundreds of thousands died for no reason, saying Serb is Strong and all that bullshit, it's sad and heart breaking knowing that i lost Half my family tree to this useless war. I was in the capital city but i did suffer many wounds as a little child living in a war forsaken country. I can't get excited over stuff like this because it reminds me of days where i had to run from street to street praying to god a sniper won't shoot me in my little 5 year old head...

I could not hold back my tears when the crowd said "everything will turn out well" in front of their fallen people murdered by the regime. In Hong Kong, we are encouraging each other by saying that "I hope we can take off our masks and meet each other outside of the Legislative Council building once this is over". The government's absurdity is escalating as we speak. A few days ago, a female protestor had her underwear ripped off and her private part exposed in front of the camera by several police. Journalists are being shot, beat up and harassed for no particular reason by the police. A local White pastor was interrogated by the police simply because he was sitting outside in a rainy day. (the Chinese government insists that we're backed by the US) Not to mention all the unlawful shooting, arrests and infringement of human rights. And the craziest part is that a lot of our own people actually choose to turn their heads away from these monstrosities and choose to believe in communist propaganda. The Chinese people are also angry with us and blame us for not embracing the almighty communist party and spam our social media with shitty messages... Our cases and situations are different but we are drawing inspirations from Ukraine. We are grateful for each and every Ukrainian freedom fighter's effort.

A revolution IS a war. A "war" is a conflict between people. Regardless if it's two nations fighting each other, or the people of the same nation fighting each other, or the citizens of a nation trying to overthrow their government - if people are fighting and killing each other, it's technically a war.

From Crane Brinton, "The course that Revolution seems to take: 1. Impossible demands are made of government which, if granted, would mean its end. 2. Unsuccessful government attempts to suppress revolutionaries. 3. Revolutionaries gain power and seem united. 4. Once in power, revolutionaries begin to quarrel among themselves, and unit begins to dissolve. 5. The moderates gain the leadership but fail to satisfy those who insist on further changes. 6. Power is gained by progressively more radical groups until finally a lunatic fringe gains almost complete control. 7. A strong man emerges and assumes great power. 8. The extremists try to create a "heaven on earth" by introducing their whole program and by punishing all their opponents. 9. A period of terror occurs. 10. Moderate groups regain power. The revolution is over. " Most revolutions follow this order. Some of the steps can be skipped (like number 8). Therefore, generally, there can be mini revolutions when there is one revolution (3 and 7 in particular). If you want to find out more, just search Crane Brinton's Anatomy of Revolution and it should give you more info.
@thetrainman100010 жыл бұрын
Agreed, though you could consider the Whiskey Rebellion to be a miniature Reign of Terror to prove that the United States had authority. For the bloodless revolutions, there are a few, like the Glorious Revolution in Britain, however you could consider that really to be step 10 of the English Civil War. Ultimately, there are generally at least three government changes in a successful revolution: 1) The overthrow of the old Government 2) The Revolutionary Government 3) The Moderate Government Then sometimes a figure will arise and has the backing of the people. These are generally law and order candidates, due to the instability of the Revolutionary times. These can create dictatorships or authority based governments (like Napoleon III). What prevented this from occurring in the United States was that Washington stepped down after two terms, and the other presidents followed Washington's legacy (with the exception of FDR, but I am not going to go there). Ultimately, a leader will need to step up about the situation that has support by both sides. The problem here is that the two sides are very fragmented, therefore unity will be difficult. From the exit polls, the "Chocolate King" (as Vice likes to call him) has won the election, so I hope that he will be able to defuse the situation and then does not try to overreach what he can do.

Instead of standing with them why not go to Ukraine and join their military and go to the frontline. Oh, hold on brown and black people are not exactly welcome there. Don't glorify war.

Seeing this was really intense. I remember back when I was 10, my dad used to work for an organization that gave support for the poorest people in eastern Europe. Me and my family were invited to go there(my dad went often). It really was a nice country, which you could see was actively developing. This was in 2013, just before hell broke out in the eastern part of the country. I didn't know much about it, but learning about it now, I'm very shocked that I was that close to it. Now that I'm older and understand such issues, I see Russia, where corruption and democracy are running hot aswell. I'm scared that if Putin goes mad, Europe and America will pay the cost of his actions. Let's all hope Navalny takes the throne from Putin and restores the country.

True picture of ownership == Two countries want Crimea today, one with : 1000 BC to 1 AD:: Crimea was ruled most likely by various Greek powerful kingdoms. 1 AD to 800 AD == Crimea was most likely ruled by the Roman empire, and subsequent eastern Holy Roman empire of Roman era . 800 AD to 1000 AD: Crimea was ruled by various Slavic tribes, such as Magyars, bulgarians and BeloRusian Slavic tribes. 1000 AD to 1783: Crimea was ruled by Islamic militants led by the Crimea - Khanate (Khan of Crimea). Some Tatars were re-settled into Crimea by the Ottoman empire. 1783 AD to 1791 AD == Crimea was ruled directly from Moscow, after liberation Ottoman rule by Queen Catherine the Great of the Russian Federation. 1791 to 1992 or so: Crimea was part of the Russian Federation. Queen Catherine the Great, an ethnic German and Queen of Russian Empire made Crimea a part of Russia as the population of Crimea mostly wanted to be part of Russia as per a population count of 1791 or 1783, from 1954, to 1992, with samaries coming from Kyiv. This was as per a decree by Khrushchev, the salaries of mayors and town hall employees of Crimea and day to day expenses of Crimea municiplaity were to come from Kyiv. 1992 to 2014:: Crimea became an autonomous state, at the same level as Russia and Ukraine with salaries of town halll employees and mayors of Crimea to be paid by Kyiv. 2014 onwards While in Oxford, MS, I had seen numerous photographs of the American civil war (around 1861 - 1865). Common sense dictated that any war fought a decade earlier may well have been well photographed. The Crimean war (1853 - 1855) fought between Russia and allies of Turkey, as in Tennyson's poem was also well photographed. I googled "photographs of the Crimean war". Not as enjoyable as our graphic civil war pictures, with war dead included. Crimea:: It wasn't annexation: Who owns Crimea? a small piece of land jutting out of the peninsula of greater Ukraine? In 1783 Catherine the Great , Queen of Imperial Russia and an ethnic German, sent her colorfully dressed army and military to liberate the original capital of Rus, village of Kyiv. The actual reason was to create a whole new land called CossackLand. On advice of her generals, she decided to create a country called Ukraine (Ukraine means suburbs or outskirts of the Russian speaking lands) instead of calling the whole country Cossackland. She also attached the smaller peninsula called Crimea to Russian province in 1783 or 1791, as Crimea was predominantly Russian speaking back in 1791. In 1954, the province of Ukraine had won a diplomatic coupe: 1) In 1954, Khrushchev went back to his office in Moscow at midnight, drunk, with his driver, and wrote an office memo, saying he is transferring Crimea from Russia to Ukraine,. Body guard and driver: "This transfer of Crimea by office memo isn't legal enough", said his driver and bodyguard, both ethnic Russians. (2) Soon after, within 1954, Khrushchev convinced the Soviets to transfer day to day administration and salaries of the mayor and staff working in Crimea from Russia funds to Kyiv funds. Salaries came from Kyiv instead of Moscow. Now, this was a diplomatic coup. So, now both sides could claim to own Crimea, and this may have some justification. Americans are sweet talking people who, the world remembers, took over the western hemisphere from the native Americans. so, the average American politician, people like the guy to the right, says, :"If our American forefathers could take over America from the native Americans, why shouldn't the Ukrainians take over /Crimea from Russia on a false claim?". so, both sides are right, in their claims, in my opinion. In 1991, Yeltsin asks few town hall employees of Crimea who worked between 1956 and 1991, "Where do you Crimean Russians get your salaries from?" Answer "We three municipal employees in Crimea get salaries from Kyiv". So Khrushchev was very subtle in the Soviet transfer of source of salaries of municipal officials and admin officials of Crimea. Yeltsin to his 10 secretaries, "Now I have pay royalty to Ukraine. Town hall salaries of Crimea used to come from Kyiv". What does all this mean? That Russia's claim to Crimea is legitimate.

Let’s just have a moment of silence to respect the protestors, dead or alive. They’re all heroes, they all fought instead of cowering. They died ready, on their feet. They died fighting for their country, their freedom, their Ukraine they wanted, their belief and everything.. They shall not be forgotten, they are soldiers of war- fighting for what they believe and died fight for what they believe. They may have died, and died not knowing what was to come, but they fought to their last breath. They were ready to sacrifice their lives for the others. They died, fearful if they are but no cowardice- there’s only determination, perseverance. Those who lives shan’t be forgotten, they are no less than the ones that lost their lives. They grieve, they mourn, but they move on. They are survivors, never knowing if the next step, the next action, the next step will ever be their last. They got to see the glory of the new dawn, the new morning, the new day- the new world. They live to see the Ukraine they fought for become reality, they live to see what they have achieved. There is no victory. There is lives lost in both sides, there is damage, sadness. But they came out to receive, to have what they wanted- what they needed. But they will move on to the future, never forgetting those who has fallen and those who has fought and the new land that promised them new hopes. A new future. “Let silence settle, as we remember. Then let us look to see what they have achieved, and alas, let all rest, untouched with the echoes.”
