Vicente García: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Feb. 2, 2018 | Felix Contreras -- Singer-songwriter Vicente García is still relatively under the radar, but performances like the one he gave at the Tiny Desk are starting to turn some heads.
García's music isn't dominated by his native Dominican Republic, but you can hear it in every note. His poetic lyrics are like short stories, sung by a voice both plaintive and evocative, yet always distinct.
From the opening strains of "San Rafael" to the final two tracks pulled from his latest album, A La Mar, VIcente García exhibits a fully formed and enchanting musical presence that will only get better over time.

I am from Asia and I stumbled upon Vicente Garcia's music on KZbin years ago and through my travels; was enchanted ever since. His music is poetry. Anyway, this rad guy is already big in Latin America, I'm glad this talented musician was invited. Thank you TinyDesk, flippin' cool cats you guys are. Hopefully, some day the world will get to see Herencia de Timbiqui, Puerto Candelaria and Systema Solar at your TinyDesk too. That would be wicked.

@@CarolNaranjocxnv Yes from Singapore, I have travelled mainly to South America a few times, hence, the exposure :) The music diversity on that continent blew me away. Just Colombia on its own, has such varied musical expressions across the regions which are amazing.
