Thanks for posting these fights. Terrific boxing theater and a real treat to watch. Thanks again, man.

Good, clear analysis of a somewhat involved and confusing purse situation. Multiple bids should keep things competitive, but it this sport, anything can happen! Thanks for hosting the channel and providing the info.

How has this one gotten fewer views than the others? Easily the best fight of the series. One of my favourite fights, period.

One of my favourites too. Saldivar always came on strong in the later rounds and this was where he took control in the trilogy with Winston. I have read that Vicente' Saldivar had a lower than average pulse rate, and it allowed him to finish his fights more strongly. Interestingly, Bj'orn Borg, the famous tennis player , who was also a strong finisher, had a similar condition.

This match is considered as one of the 100 greatest title fights in the history.

Vicente Saldívar, un peleador caracterizado por su extraordinario estilo, dotado de puños de oro y una izquierda privilegiada con efectos de cloroformo. Poseedor de un récord extraordinario, vencedor en 37 de sus 40 peleas profesionales,

There should be no controversy here, Saldivar was indomitable down the stretch. Winstone worked very well behind the left but wasn't strong enough to defeat this great man. Tremendous fight.

The narrator is going on and on about how good a start Winstone has had and how all his punches are being so effective giving the impression that the Welshman is the only fighter in the ring ... then suddenly at 11:15 he goes awfully quiet as soon as Saldivar starts rattling his boy with heavy blows. So funny!

Yes, I remember that. It will have been the British BBC boxing commentator, Harry Carpenter. We were all very impressed with Howard Winstones good starts in the trilogy. Saldivar always did better in the 2nd part of the fights.

It would be ideal to activate or configure the subtitles, you would have more views, thanks!

Winstone just appears to have been a delusional man. He genuinely seems to believe he won each of the first two fights. He didn’t even have an argument. Don’t get me wrong, he put up a great fight and showed tremendous mettle in surviving through the hurricane of punishment that was inflicted on him in the championship rounds. I had him ahead up to about the 11th round (though Saldivar had already started morphing into a werewolf a couple of rounds before). The beating he took in the last third of the fight overcame any edge he might’ve had on the cards to that point, though. Unless you somehow had him winning all of the first 10 rounds. Even then it would’ve been close.
