Anyone have the deets on why the snares played behind the actual center of the head? The sound/tuning/clarity is fantastic, is this a part of it? Or does it have to do with the tension of the head for rebound?
@rhcplax642 жыл бұрын
Some of them just didn’t have good zones. There’s no voodoo magic at play here that would make the staff ask the members to not play in the center
@FOSSIL13drums2 жыл бұрын
@@rhcplax64 Did you work with Boston this year? If not, maybe stop speculating on something you may not be aware of. I highly doubt they just have “bad zones”. How do you make an 8 person snareline for a top 6 corps with “bad zones”? They had to have been taught to play that way since the whole snareline is playing in the same spot. Look at the wear on the heads, it’s consistent. I’m looking for an actual answer, not speculation.
@rhcplax642 жыл бұрын
@@FOSSIL13drums Well I know the folks on the staff, so it’s not speculation, friend. The pearl harnesses seem to push the drum farther away, and some of them never adjusted. And it’s pretty common to not have great zones if it’s ingrained in your muscle memory, even in a top 6 drum corps. Musicians have tendencies, and they only lessen with experience. Also, the wear patterns are not consistent across the line, take another look (both when they’re at the guts and when playing in the center). Are there some that are consistently behind the center? Yes, but the staff certainly never defined it to be that way. Didn’t realize I would be expected to cite my sources

as a snare dummer I have a question which may not be able to be answered. I've noticed that the placement of the middle finger varies from line to line. The blue devils typically keep theirs entirely off the stick and they seem to bend it. This line however, when not doing diddles or open things, keep theirs straight across the stick. Me personally I do it the blue devils way but I'm wondering if that's something thats considered when looking at technique or what, can someone clarify?
