Jada A. Well, cells basically survive off of glucose so it makes sense if u want to promote growth.
@jillybean68 жыл бұрын
Jada A. Sugar honey works the same way. I had a bad wound and doctor used what is called honeymed. Helped fix me
@ShesAaRebel8 жыл бұрын
That also really confused me when I first saw him do that! I then Googled it, and it turns out that sugar has been used to treat wounds for hundreds of years. It prevents bacteria from forming, and helps it to be absorbed into the bandage. I've used honey before on some cuts cause I knew it had anti-bacterial properties, but I never thought sugar was the same for some reason.
@shinymarshtop28 жыл бұрын
Apparently sugar packed into a wound makes it impossible for bacteria to survive. Who would have thought.

Let this channel continue to be amazing inspiring and informative. Let us veiwers that came to watch and subscribe give likes and support Vet Ranch, do so. Leave if this channel bothers you, or watch one of their other videos. Many are not graphic and pretty much all end happy....sometimes the road to recovery and a happy ending involves a messy start and middle.

Dr. Matt please make more videos like these that are long and truthful. I think that not only is it greatly educational but it will also help many pet owners have their eyes opened to what truly can happen if you don't treat and care for your pets.
@jacobhand20118 жыл бұрын
Naaman151 I do agree but you have to realize all the effort that is put into these videos and all the editing plus he's the father of three. he also has two other channels he has to film and edit. and he's a veterinarian so you gotta think about that and that he has a lot of hard work to do
@reganoneill97658 жыл бұрын
jacob hannd you 100 percent right you have to think about what you say before you say it
@princessjmaej8 жыл бұрын
Regan O'Neill That's a weird way to put it, don't you think? "Think about what you say before you say it." That implies that something the person said was rude or unkind when that isn't the case... They just asked for more videos that are similar to this one. Yes, it must be hard to be a full time dad and veterinarian as well as running two other channels on youtube, but surely it isn't wrong to ask for more videos that you're interested in?
@naamanmancia27958 жыл бұрын
jacob hannd I do realize that videos are hard work but i don't quite see how making less censored videos would be much harder than making a more censored one. If he's already making a video all he would have to do is edit out less clips. Did you realize how long this video is ? It's longer because since the theme of the video was meant to be realistic he didn't have to cut out as much of the video.
@MonadRimsire7 жыл бұрын
(At the beginning) Matt: "This video.. is gross. Like really gross." Me: (turns up quality and goes full screen) "I tend to be squeamish, but bring it on!" (End of video) Me: "Note to self, if a vet or doctor says something is gross.. Take their word for it." Still watched it though, it's amazing that animals can survive such horrid injuries.

I guarantee this process, unless he was giving them some serious family-friend discounts, cost at least a few thousand dollars. AT LEAST. Many people do not have thousands of dollars to spend on a dog. It is not wrong to put down a dog peacefully and quickly if it is not fiscally within your bounds to spend this sort of money keeping a dog alive for a couple more years.

It shouldn't be about increasing your tolerance to gross things, but about learning how stuff really works. Watching violent movies and video games may desensitize you in that way but its certainly not real or accurate so don't count on getting educated from it. Certain things are meant to be gross and we shouldn't become desensitized to it, but if you're here to learn something, then watching more vet ranch is all you need.

As someone whose dog had been attacked and had similar wounds, I remember having to run out of the vets and outside to get air and not faint from looking at the wounds. Treating the wound daily at home got me used to it but the first time was the worst. The vet cutting away the dead black skin never got better to watch but you just had to deal with it. Sadly my dog was so old when this happened that he never grew his hair back but the skin healed and the rest of his long hair covered it up for winter thankfully.

@natalier40538 жыл бұрын
Thomas Kent Eh, I wouldn't say worse or all the time. It's all about perspective. Humans as individuals don't experience such injuries frequently or at all. I don't know anyone who has had an injury that bad, although there are more humans in the world so we get injured more as a whole. And injuries like that take a bigger toll on smaller animals than larger ones. It's also much easier for things to have a negative outcome with surgeries/treatment on smaller animals. That injury is probably equivalent to us having our whole lower half covered in bite marks and rotting flesh. Human injuries similar to that aren't all that common. It's a miracle that small dog fully recovered.

YT needs to get rid of the "Flag" feature, because too many people (see: snowflakes) seem hell-bent on flagging every video that THEY deem "inappropriate". Newsflash: This is REAL life. If stuff like this makes you squeamish, there are plenty of other (literally thousands) videos that you could watch. Matt and his crew are doing a lot of people a great service, which is a lot more than can be said about all of the "armchair SJWs" that have self-appointed themselves to act as the "YT content police". Do us all a favor and go find something else to do! In fact, I heard Walmart is having a sale on coloring-books, and crayons? Sincerely, The Internet/World

HI LET ME EXPLAIN. I will try! Yes, they use SUGAR and HONEY as they have antibacterial and healing effects!..AND ...Honey has a high glucose (glucose is a type of sugar that is broken down) content, which bacteria use instead of amino acids, resulting in lactic acid production, in place of malodorous compounds from amino acids. This action deodorizes the wound-typically overnight. Honey and sugar also decrease Edema, which is another word for (swelling) accelerates sloughing of necrotic (dead) tissues, promotes granulation and provides a protective protein layer over the wound. But it doesn’t stop there. Honey and sugar also has antibacterial properties through four mechanisms: it lowers the wound’s water content (i.e. it increases its osmolarity); it is highly acidic (pH 3.6-4.5); (the lower the number, the higher the acid value is) it attracts macrophages (little organisms that eat dead tissue) ; and it is a substrate for ongoing production of a very low concentration of hydrogen peroxide (H202), which kills bacteria. SUGAR ACTS IN A VERY SIMILAR WAY 😌😌😌 Did this help you to understand a bit better? Best regards! Susan oh yes, the SUGAR & HONEY HAS TO WARM IN ROOM TEMPERATURE

Basically sugar draws water from the wound into a dressing (bacteria needs water to survive) which allows accelerates the healing process.

man, makes me realize how lucky my friend's dog was when he got attacked. He had a pretty huge hole in his throat, fortunately it was just superficial, no muscle damage even, but the other dog pulled up a LOT of skin. there was a bit of infection, but we were diligent about flushing and draining it, and all the loose skin managed to reattach, and the wound closed up.

@masterofbate31168 жыл бұрын
Astral Knight well, the video was disgusting, not fit for kids, sure it's "educational" but I'm quite sure an 8 yr old would not like the see how bad that is, some do but not all. The flagging of this video was deemed worthy, is kinda annoying but if the really wanted to watch it, why can't they have their parents log in for them with their account and done. Don't be mad if you can't watch it, things happen for a reason.
@ghosthead20088 жыл бұрын
Master Of bate I, and many others have seen worse than what is being shown in this video, IRL, so... But, you hit the nail on the head, about the "parents". If 8yo'ds (or any young kids for that matter) are being allowed to watch ANYTHING on the internet, without adult-supervision, then we have much bigger issues.
@cold60798 жыл бұрын
Master Of bate They did have a warning and parents in the first place should not let their kids under the age of 16 to even watch this .. *my opinion*

I wonder if the veterinary field has ever tried using turmeric powder to stimulate granulation tissue. I've had a couple of wounds on myself that were down to fascia and after a few days of plasma drainage with no scabbing, I tried putting turmeric on it not only to discourage microbial growth, but as it turns out it stimulated my wounds to start granulating in and scabbing. I would replace it twice a day and it worked really well. After a few days, I could leave it to heal on its own. There are two issues with turmeric, though: staining everything it touches, and it stings like a son of a gun at first.
