That's awesome! I never thought this plane would ever become anything more than a concept. I hope it fixes some of the shortcomings of what I imagine is their main competitor, the Icon A5. Stuff like power, cost, low useful load and high maintenance.

Saw the footage (albeit abbreviated) of the water testing for the Wave. She looks lovely, and as someone raised in New Zealand and in love with amphibious aircraft, I am following her progress with great interest. As mentioned by others, the Wave looks to capture a similar market to the A5, and she well could. The issue with the Icon wasn't the design, or even it's performance. In my opinion it was the atrocious marketing and oversell by the manufacturer, promising everything at a low price, and delivering nowhere near what was promised, except at three times the original cost. Knowing that a good Kiwi keeps their word and follows through, I am sure what will be delivered will be a beautiful aircraft at a price that is as close as you can expect to what is being promised. No deposits taken for 150k, only to tell the buyer they need 300k 18 months later. Unfortunately, image means a great deal, and while the A5 looks gorgeous, the image of a slightly shady company (and the staggering price overruns, as I don't think you can find one new on the market right now for less than 350K), make it very hard to purchase with any confidence. This all makes me want to return to my homeland for a visit, to relive good times and stop in to Hamilton. I'll keep watching.
