Hi Vickie, Looks delicious!! I can understand why your family wanted more of the sauce!! God bless your neighbor. I recently inherited my mother's recipe boxes. I will be cooking some of those recipes, no doubt. (Some I'd never cook in a million years and I know that may be my loss.) What a wonderful bit of heritage! I wasn't too enthusiastic when I saw the title of this video, but you converted me. I've already worked it into my meal plan! Thank you!

Hehe it’s easier to cook more than when you need less isn’t it. When our sons got married I was still cooking for them both even if they weren’t there hehe. Once my head was around that I just set them a place at the table for ages. When my mother in law came to live with us it started all over again. Oh dear. Just us two again. Recipe looks nice will try it. I made a tray bake tonight with meat balls, celery onions butternut squash peppers carrots and a lot of different fresh herbs and spinach. The gravy I added an oxo cube to natural juices was lovely.

This is a very popular comfort food southern Italian dish ie: Calabria and Sicily. You did a great job on this video. I like it with more broth like you did but I've had family members wanting it with less liquid. The best part is you can always play around and tweak it to your liking. Either way its delicious!

I'm so sorry to hear about your neighbor. we do a recipe similar to this but for us its a campfire recipe we do it in foil packets over the campfire its one of our favorites.
@VickiesCountryHome7 жыл бұрын
I love campfire foil packets, but I am trying to get away from them because of the aluminum. Instead I will use a cast iron dutch oven.
@Mixwell19835 жыл бұрын
I make this and sometimes do potato,onion carrot and chicken and bake 400f for 1 hour.. Easy, goes together quick and cheap. I literally got 2 packs of brats, 5lb bag potatoes, bellpepper and onion for $9 and I can feed 4 people with leftovers.. Thats cheap!

Whew!! I was so happy you cut that little bad spot out of that potato lol (When I was watching ALL I could see was that little black spot) One of my family's Favorites has Always been potatoe's and onions slow cooked, soft and fat, (but I deep fried them yuck ALL that grease) Now I've seen you do this and I will not ONLY bake those .. but I wouldn't have EVER thought to add sausage (another favorite of the fam) .. I only have one last thing to say and that is IF you keep this up .. I'm coming to LIVE with Y.O.U.!!!!

Beth Beckermeyer you could add more chicken broth

You could use white wine vinegar, or just more chicken broth. The alcohol will burn off. We are just looking for flavor!

Vickie, I just love the way you cook! I also enjoy your videos because I love your personality. This is another dish I would like to try. Thank you for sharing. Do you use a pressure cooker at all? I was thinking maybe we could do a collaboration using those. Anyway, just a thought. I had so much fun on the last one and cannot wait to do another. Take care!--------------Tressa Daigle
@VickiesCountryHome7 жыл бұрын
I really don't have a pressure cooker, only very large canners. Anything electric uses way too much power. I am working on an idea for a collaboration now.

I assume you made this video yesterday which is when I made a very similar dish. It was the same except I added cabbage and alot more broth to make a soup. Maybe it's the "Texas" in us but we seem so much alike. Enjoy your channel much!
@VickiesCountryHome7 жыл бұрын
Actually I made this last week the same day that I made my 2500 subscriber giveaway video, because I was trying to stack up all of my filming on weekends because of my crazy work schedule! It probably is the Texas in us. We love flavor, and we aren't afraid of trying new things! Thank you so much!
