Simply a singer who sings and an orchestra that accompanies the song. No light organ, no dry ice smoke, no special effects, no glittery clothing, no gymnastics on stage. Just the singer on stage in front of the microphone and the orchestra below - and that's it. It makes you feel so wistful...

You shouldve kept all your vinyl. I brought out a couple of my old LPs the other day, and compared the sound through my old analogue amp with my top of the range CD player and top of the range digital amp. So a modest turntable, reasonable cartridge for its day, and home made Texan amp beat the sound of the high end digital stuff. I used the same Tannoy speakers for the test. It's hard to describe, but you know it when you hear it. Digital has a clean, clinical sound compared with vinyl and analogue.

During my time at university (where I read French), and when I helped another student, I would always recommend this song during lessons of adjectives and genders.

Back in the seventies they often played this song during a dutch radioshow on sundays, in between the soccer games. Today, I heard the instrumental version and the words came back into my mind. So this is what KZbin came up with when I googled the words. Never knew it was Vickey Leandros who sang the song! Thank for sharing.

This song feels very Canadian to me because I was in Canada when it was issued and broadcast many times. I was 7 and I couldnt understand (Im a Finn) anything what the song is about. Still cannot. But the tune is there forever as long as I live.

Oh, mon enfance me manque!
