I love Heidis' cajon instruction videos. I'm disabled & took up plaing the didgeridoo a few months ago to treat my sleep apnea. I had notice that a lot of didge players also played cajon so I went to guitar center & picked 1 up. I have had a stroke in the past so even though as a 20 year old I could play drums fairly well now my left side isn't as open to communication as it once was. Heidis' teaching videos help me keep from getting to frustrated & also open me up to other rythms than r&r.

it sounds like someone beating a wooden box because thats what it actually is... a wooden box. But I agree some extra bongos or congas would be great (and in fact we play with these in our full band setting, this is just the trio)

I also read that ethnic music research explains that the cajon as it's known today, really comes from Africa. Where "the original cajons" where made completely out of hide, later came the box made with wood only, and then it was re-discovered among the black peruvians that where transported to the cities of Lima and Callao. I haven't heard that Africans could be so desperate in begging for that type of recognition. Read about it.

The guitar and bass sound fantastic. The cajon sounds like someone beating on a wooden box. Kinda flat and lifeless. Congas, bongos, bodhran...something with a true drum thump.

Why is it that you guys are so desperate for everyone to acknowledge that the cajon comes from Peru?. Every time I see someone playing cajon, out of no where appears a peruvian person begin for recognition, that the cajon comes from Peru. Can you imagine if every time we utilize something, a person comes up and says, that....TV set comes from the USA, or that radio comes from Italy, or that light bulb comes from the USA, or wrist watch comes from Switzerland, . It is a bit silly and desperate
