@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Wow, you are so quick to jump and judge something you don’t even understand. This car is used on the track. Everything done to this car has served a purpose. The Hellcat bumper allows more air in to cool the power steering cooler and added oil coolers, the Hellcat hood helps extract heat, the widebody allows me to run demon wheels and 200tw tires for a series that I compete in. There is not a single badge on the car that says Hellcat or demon, just one SRT8 badge on the spoiler. I have nothing negative to say to you, I just wish more people would take a deeper look at a build/ page / KZbin channel before jumping to conclusions and bashing something they don’t understand.

It actually did hold up very well, driving the car as aggressive as I do and hitting cones, scraping on trailers etc are the only reasons I had issues. Plenty of people run this kit now. If you have the funds look into the oem widebody kit. It’s available through a Dodge dealership with a direct connection program. You still have to cut the rear per Dodge instructions. I can’t promise it’ll hold up to anything so don’t hate me lol. But our q50 has been solid all year lol. And you don’t need a super crazy grit, and also be careful on your fenders where you sand so you don’t sand too high up and the flare won’t cover it. Def a measure 5 times sand once.

I’m worried about this thing rusting up my fenders. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks again for the great video
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Hey Anthony thanks for the kind words! To answer your question it is not rust! Lol it’s seam sealer. When you cut the rear of the car it is 2 layers. You cut the first layer off then fillet the second layer and fold it up to close the gap. You weld that together then apply the seam sealer to protect it from rust. Same stuff TJ Hunt used on his widebody Supra he built for Sema last year. I did film the cutting process but I lost all the video ☹️

There’s more to this question than just “what size wheel should I get”. If you want the widebody to look correct your going to need wheels that are not only wider but have the correct offset in order for the face of the wheel to sit closer to the lip of the new widebody flare...... So if you ask me get the wheels you like but for it to look right your going to need the correct negative offset for it to look right..... which means your going to have to trim... no real way around it.

It’s kind of hard to tell, but do you have wider/Widebody wheels on the challenger ? That’s my only concern. If I order the kit and the factory Widebody wheels for my hellcat would the fit with the wheels and flares be perfect fit? Versus the wheels looking “tucked” in and the flares sticking out over the wheels? Thx
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Yes this video is kind of old, check out some of newer ones. I’m running oem Dodge Demon wheels 18x11 -4.5 offset with Nitto 555 g2 315/40/18 on all 4 corners. Perfect is subjective so I will not say it will be a perfect fit because perfect for you and me are totally different. But will it look like a widebody Hellcat yes. Oem widebody wheels are 20x12 -2.5 offset. It’s all about offset when widening the car. Anything with a + positive offset will bring the wheel in (per say). A negative offset will push the wheel out. (This is a really basic way to think of it).

You know it’s one of those things where I’m not 100% sure. But to be 100% safe just apply pressure for 24h, your already going to wait 24h so why not apply the pressure. I don’t know how (obviously I didn’t do it) to keep pressure steady for that long, BUT I do have friends who leaned heavy objects on theirs for the time period and it worked.

TIRADO RACING ok I just didn’t have any idea how I could if I did have to lol. I thought that maybe leaning something on it would damage it. about how long did you apply pressure to yours?
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Like I said two comments up. About 24 minutes lol I wasn’t kidding. Guys on Instagram have sent me creative ways they have been able to keep pressure on the flares. You don’t gotta lean up abrasive things like bricks or concrete (that would damage or scratch them) some guys wrapped things in towels or cloths to protect the flares from the objects they were leaning or pressing the flares with. Just gotta get creative, another guy on insta used JB weld on the flares to create more contact surface for the tape to bond to on the flare. And he screwed his brackets in with self tap screws. Anybody looking to put these on you can start with $700 to buy them, then by the time you’re done painting (Base-coat clearcoat) by a body shop and they have to glue them on the right way not 3M tape, now you’re probably looking at the $1800 to $2000 that may change by region where you live. Body shops aren’t cheap, especially the ones that know what they’re doing and to do the job the right way and once you glue them on there on for good, no taking them off without taking off the glue which will dry rock hard. So it looks like the whole thing would cost about $2700 to $3000. if you don’t want any problems after putting them on.

And not just bigger wheels because I went from 20x10 wheels to 18x11 wheels. The Demon wheels have an aggressive offset that poke past the stock fender line. Unlike the 20 inch TSW’s in this video that stay inside the factory fenders.
@MR-uk7iy4 жыл бұрын
How do you go about the wider wheel to offset with the new fenders?
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Hey Marcos, So the answer is in tour question, you would have to get wheels with the correct offset. I personally went with OEM Dodge Demon wheels to run competitive tires in the optima series but those specs are 18x11 with a -4.5 offset Oem Hellcat and scat pack widebody wheels are 20x12 with a -2.5 off set. The width of the wheel doesn’t necessarily matter if you have the incorrect offset. I use to run TSW in 20x10 +20 offset all the way around on my narrow body. And I even had a set of Forgeline Wheels with the rear being a 20x10.5 with the correct offset to sit flush with the narrow body.

Also,They glued one spot you’re gluing the whole thing.
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
It’s all in the prep work honestly.....I learned this after the fact but the glue, the metal, and the plastic all have to be at the same temperature due to differences in expansion rates. So the way I did it was wrong. Secondly it would have been better to sand where the glue mounts to the car to give the glue something to hang on to. I’m not too worried, at the end of the season I’ll blow it apart and re do it all.

To answer your question no. I did not have to cut anything on my car to put the flares on. BUT I did cut the car and matched the cuts to the flares to put the demon wheels and tires on. My car is lowered and I use it for racing and I needed the clearance for the bigger wheels and tires.

I would but..... this is a year old and the car is getting a completely custom aluminum widebody and front splitter built for it. Started yesterday. I’ll post videos as always.

TIRADO RACING thanks i should’ve went with this at first i used some butyl sealant i already had and it’s lifting when the car sits in heat only with the front fenders at the top .. it came out great just the lifting killing me 🤣🤣 trying to get it together before i get everything wrapped in satin black
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
I had some lifting and added a dab of super glue and it worked lol idk how bad your lifting was but mine wasn’t too bad. Also make sure you do it in a controlled environment where the glue and flares and car are all the same temperature. I did mine in 30* so I was 100% bound to get lifting issues in the summer and so far it hasn’t been too bad just a small spot here and there

@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Nah man. Like I said the OLDER generation headlamps are bigger. The 2015+ (this includes 2019) are the right size. It’s a Hellcat bumper, there weren’t hellcats pre 2015. So you wouldn’t need to do all these crazy steps

What size tires are currently running?I'm considering doing a widebody on mine only concern is the tires rubbing on the fenders
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
In that video they were 255’s in a 20x10 +20 wheel. Hence why it looks “sunken “ into the widebody. Now I run OEM Dodge Demon wheels in 18x11 -4.5 offset with a 315/30/18 Bfgoodrich Rival S or my street tires Nitto 555 G2 in 315/40/18 (bigger side wall) If you have stock wheels you won’t necessarily run the fenders, the width of the tire isn’t the problem. If your lowered and get the correct offset wheel that pokes out then you’ll be rubbing your fenders. I have friends who did the widebody and widebody Hellcat/scatpack wheels and they ride on stock suspension so they don’t rub at all! I was lowered so when I added the demon wheels I had to cut my fenders. Adding wider tires alone will not fill out the fender flares YOU NEED THE CORRECT OFFSET that pushes the wheel out. Hope this helps!
@BavarianMotorHead4 жыл бұрын
@@TIRADORACING You covered just about everything. Thank you. Only question left is, how much 'lowered' were you? I plan to stay stock but run a taller tire. So if you're lowered an inch and I want to gain an inch in total dia, then it sounds like I'll rub. Thanks for your time.

Man you should have went with @Phillps Performance Lil Devils. Excellent fit and finish no tape or glue.
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
I highly dislike those. I’m not trying to be mean or anything but adding the LiL Devil flares wouldn’t have allowed me to run this wide of a wheel and tire with how low the car sits. One high speed turn on the track and the Lil Devil flares will meet the tires in a heart beat. I might have been able to run wider tires out back but that’s only half the battle as I need just as wide a tire up front. So in the end the LD flares wouldn’t have solved my problem.... the goal wasn’t purely aesthetic, but to be able to run wider wheels and competitive tires for the Optima Ultimate Street Car series.

20x11 wheels?
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Yea 20x11, it all depends on the offset. Can you fit 20x11 on the narrow body? I’m not sure. Will 20x11 fit on the widebody, yes. But your going to need the right offset to fill the wider wheel well.

Do you have to cut the fenders before you install the flares?
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Ken Doug If your lowered and are going to run wide wheels yes you need to cut before you install the flares. It’s hard to cut the car with the flares on. Others have ran the flares without cutting, and with wider wheels with the right offset***im not saying to do this, I’m just stating others have done so before****I do not know what size tires they used either so the tire height might have some effect as well**** All I can tell you is what I did, I cut my car to make room for my oem demon wheels, and my car is lowered and I use my car for racing So the benefits of running more tire far outweighed me cutting my car so it was easy for me to cut my car. Whatever choice you decided to go with do so at your own risk and with your own judgement.

Whats the offset do you have on your car ? If you cut the fender where do yoy have to cut it could yoy make a tutorial video about that?

Nice kit but why not just add an insulation rubber piece like they do on the vw bugs fenders. The kit is never perfect....
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Honestly you don’t need it... it’s pretty close to oem. If you add a rubber insulator it’s going to create more space between the flare and the contact surface. It’ll make the flare be further away from the body. It’s been a while now and I have a couple of autox days on the car out in the Texas summer weather and their still on there.

Can’t you get a moped kit ? I used to hate that you pay 80k for a redeye widebody and then mopar offers half the parts on new cars to make other challengers look like red eyes and demons,I felt like what’s the point in feeling like your part of a small group ,if everyone can pretend to be in it for a 1/2 the price..now it’s like who cares as long as each person enjoys themselves
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
A mopar kit would be replacing the entire rear quarters and front fenders. I bought mopar front fender flares to try and do the swap but it’s 10x harder. Each flare has 30 clips that seat into the fender and rear quarter. Secondly. The amount of time and money spent on the engine, transmission, interior etc.... didn’t make sense for me to go out and buy a scat pack widebody and start from scratch. Your viewing it as people can “pretend” to be a part of a group of high performance cars. In my case I never said I was trying to be Hellcat or demon The added cooling benefits of the Hellcat bumper and hood are UNDENIABLE. So why would I cut holes in my bumper and old hood when I could easily slap the new ones on and allow more air flow in my engine compartment. You see it as someone playing pretend, I see it as a way to make my track oriented challenger faster and cooler. I’m not denying you of your viewpoint, it’s yours. I’m just letting you know why I did what I did. Wider wheels, more grip, Hellcat body modifications more cooling, things don’t break anymore.

These are quite expensive for what you get, horrible fitment, looks good if it would stay, I think they could have been formed better for a better fit
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
to make it look good and to make it stay is all about the prep and installation. If you ask me personally, you get what you pay for.... I purchased oem flares before this and the oem flares really don’t work unless you have widebody fenders and rear quarter panels for them to snap into. On top of that the front and rear bumpers also have grooves for the flares to sit into. And that’s the best way to get the nice tight oem look. But that’s new fenders, new rear quarter panels, front and rear bumpers, plus the flares. I had it priced out and it came out to almost 11k with labor to install and after paint. So when you compare the price of oem, to aftermarket I would say you get what pay for. Just my .2. For right around 1k bucks after paint and labor to install you can make it look decent. Some have made it look really good!
@HellcatM62 жыл бұрын
Always tape never glue, glue destroys your paint job if you need to remove it. Tape works perfect if the product you are installing fits correctly and isnt mass produced junk
@TIRADORACING2 жыл бұрын
Idk, a lot of people has successfully used this kit. And yes glue will destroy the paint, but I (as in personal preference here) cut and lowered my car for the wheels and tires to clear the original body lines. So I had 0 intentions of taking it off or ever going back to a narrow body. You gotta remember that when you watch these videos, their not an end all be all. I’m just documenting my journey. If you don’t like it don’t do it.

@AndreGuerrieri4 жыл бұрын
I wish you luck with that kit but IMHO, I think it's garbage. I think you are going to have issues with the top of the front fenders pulling away from the quarter panel. Even with that 3M glue, I've see this kit pull away from the front quarter panel once this kit is exposed to the elements. Heat and cold will cause it to expand and contract which will make it pull away.
@TIRADORACING4 жыл бұрын
Been 1 month of daily driving in the rain, Texas sun, Texas cold sprouts, spirited driving, even some “high” speed tests at the local track. So you wishing me luck has paid off! I’ll keep posting videos as things change. I have learned that it’s best to sand the paint so the glue has something to hang on to. It’s also best to apply in a controlled environment where all elements, the car, the flares and the glue are the same temperature. Which I did not do 😖(yikes!) So I foresee some issues in the future as for now I’ll keep driving it and when the time comes I’ll fix any imperfections! All part of playing with cars man!
