Lovely video on the night life and tranquility in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It is a pleasure to view Ljubljana without having to go through a maze of heavy traffic in order enjoy oneself. The outdoor cafes in the centre of Ljubljana is simply beautiful as is the brightly lit up buildings and older buildings that dot theskyline of Ljubljama. It is wonderful to see the water fountains that surround the city itself all filled water pouring out from the statues. Wonderful video production.

Thanks Michael, it is such a beautiful city. I was here for the first time 5 years ago and decided to drive this way up north from Italy towards Austria and I am glad I did so. Wait until you see the video from Lake Bled, one of the most beautiful places and lakes on Earth!!

meandmymouth I'll reserve judgement on that lol! Wherever you go, there's always cyclists heading straight for you! Here in Northern England, I don't see many cyclists obeying traffic laws. Sorry, but it's true.
@meandmymouth8 жыл бұрын
+Biker Paul Sorry but your statement about "cyclists not obeying traffic laws" comes close to being an oxymoron. Our cities were never designed to accommodate the huge numbers of selfish motorists who insist on bringing their kitchen sized cars into the centres with no thought of the needs of other commuters or of where they are actually going to leave them when they get out. "Traffic laws" refers to the movement of cars and other private motorized transport. The clues in the name. The only way to prevent total grid lock and killer pollution levels is to ban private motorized transport in our city centres, install adequate public transport to replace it and yes then think about possible laws or restrictions on the movement of non motorized private transport devices like bicycles. Until then anarchy reigns I think.
@npr1300A88 жыл бұрын
meandmymouth Okay, so that's fine until you realise who is going to replace the taxation raised by us motorists? Current figures put it at £30-50 billion per year. I agree about the fact that the current infastructure isn't designed for cyclists but until cyclists pay their way, they cannot and should not take prescience over the motorised transport. Incidentally, cyclists HAVE to obey traffic laws/rules of the road....at least in the UK.

Great video Vic. You picked a great time to visit: Ljubljana looks incredible in twilight and at night. I love how your video is authentic, and doesn't focus on the major tourist attractions, but simply strolls through the old medieval town to show the people of KZbin its beauty. Keep up the good work! PS: You've traveled the world far and wide ... What would you say are your favourite destinations in Europe and the world?

Thank you for your wonderful comments. I often say that every country is beautiful in each own way, it is the people that make countries ugly.. I enjoyed New Zealand, Norway, Samoa, South Africa and many others...

Beautiful Slovenia! We were last there when it was Yugoslavia. I seem to remember we saw the famous Austrian horses there. The year was 1989. Great video as usual Vic!

Thank you. I bet this city is even more beautiful now than it was back in 1989, they have done so much work in renovating a lot of the buildings!!

It's not Austrian horses. This white horses are Leepitsaners, named by Leepitsa (Lipica , near Italian border, Slovenia for about 500 years. There is two great and traditionalschools for this horses, Spanish and Austrian, but origin stal and books are here in Slovenia.

@VicStefanu...I'm stopping the video well in advance to say simply with the first few frames I'm immensely enjoying this video of old world culture, which we must never lose. I've recently spoken to an American friend of mine of Polish descent who stated that on a recent visit there he noticed "Americanization" in major cities. But once in the outback, the Polish culture was easily felt and seen. We must not erase cultural history. The world would lose much treasure if we were to do so. Variety, after all, is the spice of life, isn't it?
@VicStefanu8 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, 'Americanization' has been taking place since the 1950s and it is all over Europe.. People recognize Donald Trump and they cannot tell you who their Prime Minister/President is (seriously)! There has always been a fascination with the American culture (or, anything American) but, it is has been declining over the last few year, mainly due to the rise of the EU and other factors... Europe is so full of history and this city here in Slovenia has maintained its medieval character... I hope I get a chance to go there one day again..

(Cont'd) Vic...can bicycles be left unchained outside while the owner is inside?
@VicStefanu8 жыл бұрын
Petty crime is very low here so yes, it would be safe to leave it outside unlocked for a few minutes..
@zzaaggaa8 жыл бұрын
As Vic say, crime is very low, but stealing bicycles is some kind of national sport, so i wouldn't left bicycle unchained ;) In my whole life nothing was stolen from me, except couple of bicycles that people borrowed and newer returned, some of them i found couple of streets away, i think that people consider unchained bike as free public transport. :D
